Just got notified by Kellie I can pick my permit up - have an appointment for next week!

The whole process start to finish took about 9 months for me, but some of the delay was on my end as I've been out of town a lot on business...

Chuck64, watch for taking the class out of order from getting notified that you have passed Live Scan. When I took my CCW class with Frazier, he had me bring the letter from Kellie telling me to proceed before he would give me instruction. Seems to be coming down from the Sheriff to the instructors to make us wait...

My understanding is that they don't want the training to be done before you get the word from Kellie otherwise the targets you're turning in will be dated after the fact. I'm sure there's some liability involved if things aren't done exactly as outlined in the instructions...

On the bright side, you save the training fee until you're told to proceed with shooting

I took the class first. I mistakenly thought it was all inclusive with the application and qualification. Oh well, if I have to take it again I will. Maybe I'll only need to qualify.

I don't know if this is the correct forum or not (moderators please move if necessary). I was informed that Center Mass closed because the owner just got fed up with the California politics and he moved to Idaho. They had a house they constructed.
I also heard scuttlebut that the former Center Mass range was purchased by the same person who owns Guns, Gear, etc

I'd like to know the future of Centermass as well. There is no way I am spending a nickel in anything owned by GFOS.

Thanks for the info. Hadn't heard that but i can't blame him for being fed up, California is not business friendly, i imagine, especially to gun ranges. Its too bad GFOS is purchasing the range, not that i have anything against them but competition is a good thing.

...Has anyone been up to the Twin Sisters range? Looks like fun.

Those documents are long out of date and were removed.

I'll edit the OP to remove the links. If and when we need to post them again, a Mod can just edit the OP again to add the new links.

Depending upon the outcome in Peruta, GC statements may no longer be important. That's why we're all on the edge of our seats waiting for the 3 judge CA9 panel to decide re. intervention and possible appeal.

FWIW, the Solano sheriff, while requiring more than merely "self-defense" or "personal protection" seems to be closer to accepting that than to being an anti. Just go thru a few of the most recent pages of posts in this thread to see what I mean.

Just signed up for the ccw seminar with brcarms. He said it was busy so he had to create another date to stick me in. Looks like a good thing, more solano county resident's are interested in applying!

Does anyone know if there is a certain amount of time that you have live in that county before applying for the permit? Or not?

You have to have utility bills to prove residence, usually takes 30-60 days. Otherwise, no. Nothing mentioned about it on the application process (there are good instructions on the Sheriff's Website).
