It depends on the Sheriff; he has to review them before the paperwork gets finalized. I heard that he has been out of the office quite a bit in the last 8 weeks so that might mean there's a big backlog.

Four to six weeks at a minimum, it took me just over a month after dropping off my targets.

The sheriff needs to delegate some of these tasks, my livescan has been ready for review for months. One guy will never be able to handle this workload, and it's only going to get worse when the word gets out to john q. public.....

No letters in the mail is a good thing, but this is getting a little crazy, and I'm still waiting for the "turn in your targets" phone call....... day 128 and counting

Nothing to do but wait it out, doesn't mean I have to be happy about it

Arrests without conviction shouldn't matter. At least that is my experience. Just be honest on the app because they are going to find out regardless. In my GC statement I admitted to an arrest years earlier for "receiving stolen property" and then explained further that it was a misunderstanding and all charges were dropped. The Sheriff didn't question it or have a problem with it and approved my application. I just turned my targets in today as a matter of fact. Now its back to the waiting game.

On a side not I would highly recommend Baptist. His class was fun, informative and straight to the point.

You see, my mule don't like people laughing.
He gets the crazy idea you're laughing at him.
Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to,
I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

My take is that they're sensitive about "gun related" incidents / arrests.

Does anyone carry a single action revolver? I know that single action 1911's are fine, I was just wondering if the Sheriff signs off on large frame single actions.

Between being in the city and off trail, it would be nice to have a 4 5/8" barreled single action in .45 Colt or .454 Casull, that you could carry as a second permit gun.

Single action revolvers have been around for years and are plenty fast in the right hands. Anyone know is this would work or get signed off based on your past experience? Like I said, this would be the backup or secondary piece on the permit.

I have a .41 magnum on my app. he approved it. I have it on there for carrying while hiking and camping in the mountains. (You cannot legally carry in state parks without CCW)

.41 Magnum is a rare bird to come by, but such an awesome cartridge. All of the wham with hardly any of the recoil.

Has anyone else had any calls or progress in the last three weeks besides the call to CriticallyStressed and his wife? The last bulk of calls was over 3 weeks ago. Seems like someone got tasked to other projects, is on vacation, or maybe doing things in bulk, or something. I know it's a crazy learning curve to assign a new person to the task.

I hate seeing this thread move towards the bottom of the page.
