A question to the experts. Say I get a LTC one of these days. My job explicitly prohibits firearms at work. Our personnel in our TX offices, most of them have CCW's, but do not carry in the office. So If I leave the firearm in the car (so I won't get fired ), I guess I would need to invest in one of those auto mounted safes, but is that legal, safe and best question - smart?

You should have asked before you turned it in. Maybe folks, especially those whose applications were approved, could have made suggestions / fine tuned it.

Thanks for Tonyxcom, JimSar, and Calguns.net in general. I think I have my app buttoned up and ready to go. For a final check on the required docs, I have:

The questionnaire/application. CA DL, My car registration for my proof of residency, my DMV record, my letter/GC statement. Am I missing something?

Hey Gant, What does Jackross=Jackbusiness mean? I called Jack Ross Ammo the other day and apparently their phones aren't working. Some cute sounding chick called me back a couple of days later explaining this.

Means there a ****ty business they charge u as soon as u order and then let u wait months for there subpar 9mm ammo which has .380 mixed in it , that business is a total ponzi scheme they use the money for who knows what , months ago they hired supposedly more employees latest I heard they fired them and don't have many employees so wtf are they doing with the money , taking 3 plus months to ****kk a order is bad business especially since they charge as soon as you order

Nope, be prepared to wait 4~5 months or longer for the whole process.

CriticallyStressed is right. 4-5 months is about right. Even so, no face to face interview wait like Sacramento County and no phone interview like Stanislaus County makes the overall process easier and more trouble free. All you have to do is submit your packet, do your Livescan, and shoot your targets, piece of cake.

The toughest thing you have to do to get a CCW in Solano County is to wait patiently. They rotate the paperwork through as fast as possible, but are usually under a load of about 100 applications at any given time, and the local municipalities are slow about getting information back to the Solano County investigators. Give them time and be patient, things will happen when they happen.

In the interim, I'd suggest taking up a hobby to keep yourself occupied. I'd also read this entire thread as you'll find a wealth of information that has been posted over the last few years, enough information in fact, to answer possibly any question you could ever conceive of regarding the CCW process.
