Permit picked up this morning at 10am. Glad the long process is finally over. Hopefully when renewal comes up it'll be more streamlined and efficient.

Permit picked up yesterday, went grocery shopping. A little self conscious on day 1. Felt like I was doing something wrong and everyone knew it. I know it'll get more normalized after ahwile.
Thank you to Saber Tactics. You fellow knuckleheads were awesome to learn from. Jokes aside, great training. I will take further courses.
Also los altos rod and gun club was amazing.Comment

Picked up yesterday. Three weeks short of a year for me. Here is my timeline:
Online Application: 2-23-2023
Interview: 5-11-2923 (Timing didn't work for me on the interview clinic)
LEPS; Email 8-16-23, Questionnaire 9-7-23, I interview 9-22-23
Livescan: Email & Submitted 11-17-23, FBI 11-17/23, CA 11-22-23, Firearms 11-28-23
Training/Qualification: Email 12-19-23, Course 1-27-24, Certificates 1-30-24
Approved / Final payment: 1-30-24
Call to schedule pickup: 1-31-24
CCW Pickup 2-2-24
I first scheduled my training with ASP Security but when they were informed by SCCSO that they hadn't been cleared by DOJ, they refunded and I scheduled with Saber Tactics. Four days later they received DOJ approval but my direction was already set.
Saber Tactic's course was excellent. The convenience of attending most of the instruction online was very convenient. The live fire course was well organized and comprehensive.Comment

I believe the Permitium site opened on 2/16/2023. How did you apply on 2/10/2023?Comment

Here are some observations based on members sharing their progress:
In the beginning (2-16-2023), many members shared their progress dates. Some continued, and some didn't. Lately, fewer members appear to be sharing their progress. Analysis is only as good as the data collected.
I observed most intervals based on dates of agency actions (interview, email to LEPS, email to Livescan, email to Training. Not everybody provided these dates. Intervals between emails to proceed and actually taking that next step were subject to applicant's actions, which could be delayed for personal reasons.
Applicants appear to have been processed mostly in order of their interview date vs. their application date. The opening of the Permitium site quickly developed a backlog of applicants. The sequencing may change as applications and processing "normalize".
For those who applied in February and have been issued their CCW, the turn around times started off at about 90 days, but soon increased to about 270 days (Mine was 267 days). This makes sense if they are only processing a few applications per week. I was told at my pickup appointment that there is only one person at SCCSO issuing CCWs and that he only works one day per week (appears to be Fridays).
The interval between each step appears to have increased over time, except for the time between uploading your training/qualification docs and picking up your CCW, which has been shorter as of recent.
The interval with the most variation appears to be between Firearms clearing Livescan, and the email to proceed to training. The SCCSO often claims to have not received the Livescan report while the DOJ Livescan status shows Complete. There seems to be no way to contact DOJ to inquire as to the delay.
I read in some posts that LEPS scheduling has been a challenge for some with a significant lack of available appointments. Interval in the beginning was 1-2 weeks but lately many are taking 1-2 months. LEPS calendar management seems random with appointment availability popping up suddenly. It seems they are overwhelmed by the process and are constantly working to find time someone proctor the exam.
Oddly, a few applicants seemed to have jumped ahead of their place in line with no obvious reason.
With the process possibly changing with the new SB2 requirements, it's anyone's guess what the intervals will be. For SCCSO applicants, the major changes are personal reference interviews and mental health education. Psych evals and 16-hour classes were already the requirement.Comment

If i want to add another gun, and already have my CCW do i need to submit for modification through Permitium?
Anybody know if i can add while my pistol is still in "jail" or have a timeline for their addition?Comment

You are correct. For some reason I thought it was 2/10/2023 but looking through my emails it showed 2/20/23. It?s been forever?.i think when I interviewed at the sheriffs office on 4-15 that they said 6 to 8 weeks. I was pretty bummed watching so many after my interview date get to the next steps but finally getting there.Comment

If the Esso is using Permitium, there should be a link on the Welcome page to add/change a weapon. (My Esso uses Permitium and it does, I can't speak to all agencies)If you don't know where you are going, any road will take you thereComment

Anyone here wait more than a month after DOJ showed a completed livescan on the website before the sccso received the results from DOJ? I completed a livescan on 11/20 and all three were cleared by 11/22 I emailed the sheriffs office asking my status and they kept telling me they haven't received my results from the DOJ yet. Im going on 3 months since my livescan completed. Has anyone experienced this here? I only ask because I see people here with similar timelines to mine and they have gotten permits issued.Last edited by CT0617; 02-06-2024, 3:50 PM.Santa Clara County CCW application date 4/14/23 Sheriff interview 6/1/23 Psych Eval 10/20/23 Psych interview 11/7/23 Email for LiveScan approval 11/17/23 LiveScan 11/20/23 LiveScan cleared 11/22/23 Waited just over 3 months to find out the LiveScan was some how lost between DOJ & SCC 2nd LiveScan 3/2/24 LiveScan cleared 3/7/24 Email approval for training 3/19/24 training Saber Tactics 4/13/24 submitted training completion 4/15/24 email from scso permit approved 4/16/24Comment

good to know im not the only one wondering, Im in the same boat, was approved/paid on the 17th, just waiting to get the phone call. not quite sure how the process is handled on the SCSO side, I more and more think that things are just kinda random and whoever's paperwork is at the top of the pile at gets picked for that day.
I assume based on other posts that they are swamped with work and have very few people working on this. just kinda sucks that theres no set in stone process flow. either way, good luck! hopefully the calls come soon!sigpic
