    1) Phone on CCW page is routing to auto voicemail for 1.5 months

    2) No replies to emails

So is this a potential case for lawsuit? Isn't it law somewhere that permit approvals and issuance need to happen within 90 days of application? How can an entire county of constitutionally and SCOTUS supported applicants just get swept under the rug legally?

I know I sound naive but there must be some recourse here. SCOTUS has made a decision and the SCCSO is just saying "nah"?

Apple has case orders (one dozen in a case) on back order- demand took off a month or so ago.

I'm in Mountain View and submitted an app on June 30th. That was after a couple days of Atkins telling me "you should wait" because they were updating policies etc.

I've checked in with him several times by email. He responded to the first few merely repeating "we're working on things, no eta" and now he doesn't respond at all. They haven't even updated their website which he said was going to happen "soon".

Is it a mistake to apply with Santa Clara county as well? I have not done that yet.

I sent my application 8/22 Certified mail, as of 8/29 USPS stopped updating its status - just "in transit" I assume they have lost it.

It's been nine weeks since you submitted your application and you emailed asking for status updates at least four times since then? This isn't Amazon Prime where you get your permit back in a day. It's going to take 3+ months and the more people like you bombard them with frequent status checks the longer it will take them and the harder it will be for legitimate questions to get answered.

Have patience. Once you know they have your application there's nothing you can do that will speed up the processing time. One of the best indicators you'll get of timelines is to read threads like this to see where people are in the process that applied before you did and extrapolate from there.

I submitted around 2015. It's been 7 years. Heard nothing. Advice?

                      I hear archery is fun.

Move south a bit to San Benito (check out San Juan Bautista), permit in your hands in usually 45 days and it's a pleasant experience.

Ah yes the duality of CCW discussion in SCC. People talking about how its not that simple and its gonna take a long time, or (insert other excuse here), etc etc. And then someone talks about a different county that just processes applications and issues permits; an example of how it actually is just that simple and doesn't have to take a long time.

Let's face it, this is a county that treats us with absolute contempt. They mostly don't want to recognize our rights and will only do so when they're absolutely forced to do so.

I sent my application in April via registered mail. Tracking shows it was left with an individual a few days after I sent it. So I am way, way past the 90 day timeframe established by PC. I waited a couple of months before I started following up via email and voicemail. Absolutely zero contact whatsoever. I've stopped trying to follow up.

Air guns are keeping me busy lately, been re-sealing some older ones I have.

Not so easy to just pick up and move for some of us. Would be better (though idealistic) if the darn gov't just did what it's supposed to do.

"Do you have an estimated time for the process?" is a legitimate question.
"Are you processing applications at all? is a legitimate question.

It's not like I'm asking the same question over and over and they keep answering.

It's a black hole. No information is coming out. So while I'm not expecting Amazon-like customer service I don't think it's too much for these people to have an estimated time for me to expect to hear ANYTHING back regarding my application.

If they would even put something on their website like "Applications are taking approximately 3 months to process" that would be something.

The website and their from desk send every question to the Sgt. I'm just following their directions.

Amazon service disappeared a couple years ago- but it doesn't keep them from raising Prime rates.
