Called Santa Clara PD. Asked if they issue CCW or accept applications. I was told "No". I brought up the new announcement on Santa Clara Sheriff website to them and they said that they are not aware of anything like that and they don't know anything about issuing CCW.

Tell them you represent a "very wealthy" silicon valley techie. Bet their response will change and send you to a private line.

By applying, even though the application goes no where, you have applied and thus should have standing for a class action suit ;-)

Wow what a coincidence, nobody at Santa Clara PD ever watches the news or reads legal alert notices addressed to their Chief from the CA AG?!?! What are the odds of that.

The message currently showing on the SCC Sheriffs site must be in reference to all those incorporated cities with a Chief of Police other than Santa Clara.

Come on SC PD, I get that you're anti-gun but don't insult our intelligence by pretending to be unaware that the last 3 months has, in fact, been the last 3 months.

Talked to my buddy, he said that Sunnyvale DPS is still working to figure out their protocols, but he was told to go ahead and mail in his application. The Lieutenant responsible will let all applicants know as soon as the higher ups give him the go-ahead to start processing applications. Also, it sounds like they will probably be requiring letters of reference.

Sounds like the truth right there
The only thing that is worse than an idiot, is someone who argues with one.

NorCalMedtac.com over in Santa Cruz has been asked by Santa Clara County SO to submit their curriculum for approval as range provider. They are already doing Watsonville PD and Santa Cruz SO permits.

If you are on a long list for Santa Clara, might be worth signing up to get your ticket sooner. Typically, their class is at Markley's in Watsonville, near the airport.

Note- be sure to have turned in your completed packet before signing up, otherwise its screwed things up for other folks, confuses the system.

                    Here's Brannon's note;

We have added to the calendar below and are happy to be adding more dates
Defensive Pistol 101 (CCW) has been added in November as well. And November time change will see our Low Light Series return. We will get the other courses (Pistol 102, carbine, etc) up as soon as the CCW rush dies off.

As we have in recent months. We are happy to accept orders for ammo for classes. If you are currently signed up for training contact brannon@norcalmedtac.com and we will send whoever you re ordering from our info and bring your ammo to class at no additional charge. We will be adding Force on Force in the near future. For those that have a group of friends (at least 6) that are in the paperwork pipeline already and need a CCW class we will do a private one if we can find a date. Email me, do not call or text. Look at our calendar and see where weekend holes or or back half weekdays are. I will most likely add one more October CCW date and maybe a November. After that I believe we will hit our stride and not need to be in a scramble.

                    Upcoming classes
                    Saturday 9.24.22 CCW try-county (Watsonville, CA) 831-722-6945
Saturday 10.1.22 Tactical Medicine 101 (Scotts Valley, CA)
                    Sunday 10.2.22 CCW tri-county (Watsonville, CA) 831-722-6945
                    Sunday 11.6.22 CCW tri-county (Watsonville, CA) 831-722-6945
Saturday 11.12.22 Low Light 101 (Santa Cruz, CA)
Sunday 11.13.22 Defensive Pistol 101 (Morgan Hill, CA)

                    Sunday 12.4.22 CCW tri-county (Watsonville, CA) 831-722-6945

Can confirm I received same response from Sunnyvale DPS, who said I may send in my CCW application now, and they will contact applicants when they have approval to proceed.

Did Sunnyvale DPS say to send in a paper copy or an emailed copy?

Paper copy- mailed in or dropped off in person.

CRPA issues last warning on issuance delays.

I contacted SCPD on this as well and this was their canned response as of late-August 2022. I think I might have to go to the next "Coffee with a Cop" event they run locally and ask them (the Chief, ideally) to their face what is going on.

Thank you for contacting the Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD). Historically, SCPD has not issued CCWs for residents and referred applicants to the Sheriff's Office. We appreciate your patience as SCPD is currently looking into the issue. You have the option to apply via the Sheriff's Office for now.

I still would love to understand how and when there will be any accountability for any of our SFBA agencies that are simply ignoring the current status quo post-Bruen. Are they just going to wait until the Democrats in DC negate SCOTUS with all their pipe dreams of packing the court (or whatever) and then reversing everything back into a progressive utopia afterwards in the coming years? The MSM this past week has already been 24/7 harping about the "illegitimacy" of SCOTUS in the year 2022. So tired of this crap.

Best to let them know a week before that you'll be posing the questions. Typically, the officer doing those drew the short straw and won't have details about such policy decisions, backlog, etc. You'll get some garden variety, "we're working really hard on it" BS otherwise.
