[QUOTE]August: I was told to carry both (so I shrunk down the paper, folded it over, and laminated it to fit a wallet).
November: picked up a replacement permit (transcription error between the qualified-arms listing and the printed permit), and Daniel told me the rules have changed. Just carry the permit card, keep the paper on file at home.
however, when i emailed them yesterday to confirm, they told me this:
Good evening,
If they have not been issued a CCW within the last few months, they will need to follow old instructions as the paperwork has changed recently. You will only need to carry your ID card with you. In the event you leave the county, please carry both the ID card as well as the paper form.
Best Regards,
CCW Unit
might be good practice to just carry both unless you never leave SCCComment

Does anyone know what happens if we miss Santa Clara's 90-day deadline to complete training?
Thank you!
(Due to some scheduling issues for the range qual part of it, I'm in a tight spot.)Comment

Ok but seriously this happens to a lot of people for one reason or another in a lot of agencies. If you call/email and explain what's going on and promise to get the training cert submitted ASAP they may be willing to give you an extension.Last edited by crazyScott90; 12-03-2023, 6:32 PM.Sic Semper.Comment

I did not read the complaint but i believe that they are currently only challenging the sensitive locations portion. Not the modifications to the CCW licensing process. So no, not waiting on May v Bonta for that aspect.Comment

For those who have got to this point, (i.e. waiting to get approved for training), should I be proactive in attempting to ask for status from SCSO? I just dont want to be held up due to my livescan info not being sent.
I did take a screenshot of my three completed livescans (CA, DOJ, Firearms) and uploaded it to permitium in case thats what they needed to see? im assuming that they get it from their own channels.
Additionally, if you are in limbo I would email them once a week with a polite request to provide the status of the application and confirm that they have all documents needed at this time.Comment

I am a fellow 4/19 interviewee as well and it's been very quiet. Nothing yet!Caesar saladComment

CRPA filed suit against LA County Sheriff Office today to include "excessive wait times."
Focus on lengthy wait times, cost, reciprocity.Comment

I applied in April and pickup tomorrow which puts it at 8 months and about 2 weeks of that way my delay. So 18 months yet for me at least, but the whole process costs about 1k and 8 months is still far too long in my book.Comment

I recommend being proactive. I don't think they really look at permitium much. I suggest emailing them at every point in the process. You finish training ... Upload to permitium, send the same attachments via email requesting confirmation of receipt and approval for the next step...

Thanks, though I think my main concern is because everyone's always looking for an excuse to deny in CA (at least, in some counties).Comment

Today I found out that some LiveScans get transmitted to the sheriff's office via online or via post office. I called to ask if they received mine and I was told odds are they sent mine via post office. I guess it has something to do with how the livescan agent does your paper work sounds like theres a 50 50 chance it ends up being online or post office. I guess thats why some people have longer wait times for training approvals.Santa Clara County CCW application date 4/14/23 Sheriff interview 6/1/23 Psych Eval 10/20/23 Psych interview 11/7/23 Email for LiveScan approval 11/17/23 LiveScan 11/20/23 LiveScan cleared 11/22/23 Waited just over 3 months to find out the LiveScan was some how lost between DOJ & SCC 2nd LiveScan 3/2/24 LiveScan cleared 3/7/24 Email approval for training 3/19/24 training Saber Tactics 4/13/24 submitted training completion 4/15/24 email from scso permit approved 4/16/24Comment
