What's insane to me is that they still haven't submitted our names (from April 15) to the psych eval agency to move us to the next step. We are coming up on 122 days (April 15 - August 15).

Clearly in violation of the law and their policy.

The psych eval agency has been very responsive to me. Santa Clara Sheriff has not.

Looks like only folks who had their interviews on or before April 12 have moved forward with psych eval (within 2-4 weeks of their original interview).

If we can prove that he has been sitting on LiveScan results for over 30 days then we might have some leverage to force movement with an attorney.

Did the information you received indicate status of LiveScan results? And if not, do you think another information request for that specific data would be granted? I would be willing to do that.
I was told some time ago that SCC doesn't start the clock until after the background check was completed.

For that to happen, a reporting process from the investigating agency to SCC (which has already been established) would need to be accessed by SCC.

If SCC doesn't access that Application on a regular bases and/or doesn't take receipt of approved applicants in that application, the clock doesn't start. It won't start until SCC takes receipt by recognizing (and maybe even downloading) that approved applicants data.

I'm not saying that puts SCC in a safe position, as it clearly doesn't. I'm just saying it would give them a technical excuse for not starting the clock.

      Just speculation on my part.

I think there are many from April 12th still in the dark. I am one of them at least.

I am one of the April 12th bulk interviews. My appt was at 9:30 am. I received an email via Permitium on June 27th:

Please be advised your CCW application has been approved, contingent upon successful completion of the required training and firearm qualification course.

You have 90 days to take the mandated CCW course with one of our certified instructors.

I scheduled and completed the course/training and uploaded my form on 7/17 to Permitium. Still waiting for my uploads to be acknowledged. My 90 days will be Sept 25th.

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones, at least so far. Also interviewed on the 12th. Took qualification on 7/29. Uploaded the certificate and qualification form on the 8/2. Received email saying I was appoved on the 10th paid final fees and soon after recieved another email..."Please contact the Sheriff?s Office at SHF.SOCCW@shf.sccgov.org to arrange a pick-up appointment. License delivery typically takes about 10 minutes. You will be able to take your new CCW license with you by the end of the appointment".

I did send in an email asking how do I go about doing that, haven't heard back. I don't think my email will be read, as I have sent a couple of question that were never answered. I think the Sherrif's ofice will either call or email giving me a time.

            Hang in there.

I would show up in person to make that appointment at the counter if I were you. It's better than waiting for an email response that you know probably isn't coming.

I might try that next week but probably useless. I did go to the sheriff?s office awhile back to ask a simple question on my CCW application. The officer pointed to sign with the CCW number on it, I said I couldn?t leave a message box was full. He than said email them I said I did but hadn?t heard back and it?s been 2 weeks. His reply was be patient.

Sounds like they are purposely taking their sweet time.

Has anyone applied in the last 2 months? Any traction or just silence until they get through the backlog?

You made it further than most from April 15, and now it's sounding like a bunch from April 12, as well... All of us from April 15 still have received no emails, and have not moved onto step #2: the initial psych eval scheduling.

It's a great strategy if you're not in favor us being able to have CCWs... and if there's no accountability.

I haven?t applied yet. I was just commenting on the fact that this sheriff clearly doesn?t care about ccw and has found a way to delay as much as they can.

I was also curious for anyone who applied the last few months, if there was any traction. Not that I think there has been any.

I've yet to hear that anyone that interviewed April 15th or later have had ANY movement past initial interview.

Please correct me if im wrong here.
I verified with my friend and his interview was actually the 12th and he is completely done. Psych test and interview, 16 hour course and livescan.

So your friend having an April 12th interview makes much more sense as to why he got further along.

Backtracking in our posts, insinuating that people were being taken out of line datewise and furthered along, screamed nepotism or favoritism. That had me concerned.

I appreciate you for responding and clarifying.

                              Psych interview was May 19th
                              Livescan completed July 29th
Still waiting for 'cleared for training' email

Can anyone confirm that this is the correct address?

                                55 W Younger Avenue
                                San Jose, CA 95110

Is there a room number that I go directly into.
Or check with the front desk?
