have anyone done their renewals yet Mine is due up in April and just wanted any heads up I should look out for. Thanks!

Mine is up in April as well and went down there and turned in my renewal last week. It doesn't say it on the instructions but they only do renewals on Mondays and Tuesdays. I went on a Wednesday because I was unaware but they were nice enough to do my renewal interview anyway. He said it would be done by April no problem.

Just heard back from the Sheriff's PSD regarding my permit modification. It has been signed and is ready for pickup.
The need for modification was due to a clerical error on one of my pistols never being "delivered" in CA DoJ's database, and therefore was not visible to the SO. If they can't see it registered to your name, they won't put it on your permit.
In summary, from finding out that my HK VP9 wasn't showing in the system, alerting the store I bought it from, them informing CA DoJ of the deficiency, the change reflecting in the system, to the permit modification w/ third pistol being added being routed and signed...about 6 weeks.

Question about the application form where you list your firearms. If you have a pistol that is capable of multiple calibers like .38/.357 Mag and .40/.357 Sig, can you list all those calibers on the single line or are you restricted to a single caliber?

That's a very interesting question, and one that i don't have a definite answer to. My first suggestion would be to call the PSD office and ask, or discuss it with the BI you sit down with at the interview. Technically speaking, the weapons you put on the application (Make, Model, caliber, S/N) are not set in stone at that time. Secondly, what was the weapon DROS'd as? That would be your first source of information when determining what to put on your application, since what's on the paper, what's on your training certificate and what's in the system need to jive.
When I picked up my permit, one of the others there to pick up did have a problem related to your question. Their pistol was purchased and DROS'd under the SSE exemption and written up as a certain caliber, and then converted back to stock configuration and caliber after the individual took delivery of the weapon. This resulted in a weapon, same Make, Model and S/N, but conflicting calibers when comparing what the weapon showed as in the system and what he actually would carry. If he were to have had that weapon, as configured, on his permit, been approached by a LEO and his permit run, if he were carrying that weapon, which was then run and found to be listed as a different caliber, that would present a conflict and warrant further investigation...which nobody wants...

One of the guns on my permit is a S&W revolver. The Sheriff's Office listed the caliber on my permit as a ".357" only. I think they just use whatever the DOJ has your gun listed as on their records. One of my three guns is a SIG P239. Under "model" on my permit, the Sheriff's Office typed "P239blued." I've never used that description in my life. I'm assuming that's what the DOJ has on record for that particular gun.

The DROS'ed weapon (and serial#) must match its original/factory caliber listed with DOJ. No hot-swapping barrels for different calibers, unfortunately. The ONLY exception to this is with .357 magnum revolvers, which inherently shoot both .38spl & .357mag, without modification.

I picked up my modification today. All three pistols are now on my CCW permit. Was in the office maybe a half hour.
Also, I asked what phone traffic had been like since last Wednesday (San Bernardino). Young lady said that phone traffic (new permit inquiries) were way up, sometimes ringing off the hook and after hours. We might have another increase in processing times if applications spike again.

I'm sorry, but I was gonna look on every page of this thread. But are things like ar-15 and ak pistols allowed to be on CCW permit? Sorry I'm new and was curious.

Not sure In this county. Placer has few, as long as you qualify with your instructor, then it's up to your IA it's usually like your 3rd gun. Advantage ability to keep loaded AR in your car. Or backpack legally if needed. License to carry pistol, revolver or other firearm

I think I would have a fricking heart-attack if I ever learned that a CLEO approved an AR/AK pistol for CCW in CA.
