4/14- still waiting. I had to go in about two weeks ago and sign another one of the releases that they forgot to have me sign when I was there for the initial interview. Had a few more phone calls from my BI after I went in to follow up on a few things. No word since then.

So I got approved and took my 16 hour class. I called to see if I had to make an appt. and they transferred me to the guy who sometimes takes a week to return a call. Does anyone know if I need to make an appt. or can I just go pick up my CCW?

They told my wife to come in Tuesday or Wednesday between 8 am and 3:30 pm. So my guess is no appt. needed.

Could this mean that they've hired more investigators in anticipation of the influx of applicants after the recent Peruta case denial (for Kamala Harris to intervene)?

How many investigators do they have now anyway? During my interview, I think there were three. One Caucasian, a Hispanic looking and one with a Japanese sounding name (I got him). All middle aged gentlemen and were all polite and courteous.

This policy should change in a few days, right? (per recent Peruta case ruling)

The wife said the place was hopping. She said at least 5 before her picking up permits. And several behind her by the time she got out of there.

                This is good.

Had to move my date to December 1st from this Thursday due to work. I was so hyped about a date given 48 hours from my call I didn't wanna give it up! Unfortunately, work didn't want to give me up either lol.

Rescheduled for 12/1. Lady I spoke to said the sheriff told them to start scheduling more often to "knock em out" which to me means hopefully the whole process is going to move faster now, not just interviews.

I've been patiently following this thread since April. Applied in May; figured I would check in for the sake of statistics, and provide my experience/insight thus far:

                        Appointment = 5/28 @ 9:45a.m.
Interview process was very straight forward, about 15min. long, verbatim to the application for the most part. For what it's worth, there was emphasis to whether I intended to carry while at my place of work, to which I responded NO (per my employer's firearm policy). The investigator responded with, "good answer".

Patiently waiting since then. Placed a brief call in around ~10/28, for a general status inquiry. Was told by the female who answered the phone, "We are still processing. Sit tight, you will receive a phone call." I quickly asked what would happen should I miss the phone call (as most of you know, any calls from SJCSO come through as 'Unknown'). She responded, "they WILL leave a voicemail with contact information."

Keeping my fingers crossed that May will be processed by Christmas time!

Day 202 for me. Interview was 4/30. First contact 10/09. Last contact 10/27.

Haven't heard anything since. Congratulations to all who have been approved without any difficulty.

I'm on day 193 no contact at all. I know a lot of calls were to check on if you can carry at work. I had a letter from my manager saying I could not carry at work along with his card. So I'm wondering if I won't have a call before approval

Just got the call! Woo HOO! Can pick up my CCW any Tues. or Wed. 8:30 to 3:30

Damn it's 2:50 and I can't make it there on time today

Have to wait till next Tues.

Initial app/interview date: 4/16. Investigator follow up call on : 11/13 Email with letter of acceptance on 11/19. Phone call on acceptance 11/19.

No residence check and only one question from the investigator about which guns I wanted on my permit.

3 guns on permit, one is SSE.

I notice that the DOJ application (BOF 4012) that the San Joaquin County Sheriff requires you to fill out and submit still says:

"If the CCW license is desired for self-protection, the protection of others, or for the protection of large sums of money or valuable property, you are required to explain and provide good cause for issuance of the license. For example, has your life or property been threatened or jeopardized? Explain incidents and include dates, times, locations, and names of police agencies to which these incidents were reported."

Are people still just writing "self defense" in this section? And if so, are the investigators asking follow up questions seeking specific (versus general) need?
