Like he said if you live in San Joaquin which includes all cities apply Sheriffs Dept Going to take approx 9 months for us in the past hopefully little quicker if you applied today. If your lucky enough to live in Ripon you apply with PD there. Guys I have met who live in Ripon have told me it takes approx 1 week -
I not sure to honest it could depend on manpower and applications received.Okay, cool. Thanks!
I'm assuming there're different requirements between applying within the city limits and applying with the county?
And would you happen to know if there is a difference in length of time of getting accepted/denied between county and city?
I apologize if I'm just shotgunning you with questions :|Leave a comment:

I believe the original post was updated last April and is still valid. However, the Sheriff's website has complete instructions. Here's the link:

C.Espinoza, do some research on the Manteca PD issuing CCW's. I'm pretty sure you'll find that you would be wasting your time applying with them. From what I know, Ripon is the only PD in San Joaquin that is actually issuing CCW's, and they do it very quickly and efficiently.
No matter where you live within Manteca, you should apply at the Sheriff's office. Actually, all San Joaquin county residents should apply with the SJC Sheriff's office unless you are a resident of Ripon.Last edited by Nor*Cal; 01-13-2015, 10:17 PM.Leave a comment:

Has anyone applied within the last 2-3 months? I'm thinking I want to get this ball rolling and wondering if the directions on the original post in this thread is still the way to proceed.Leave a comment:

Usually if you live in city limits you go to the PD, and if you live in the county then the Sheriff's office.I live in Manteca, and I'm a month away from my 21st birthday, and I'm a bit confused about WHERE I go to start the CCW process when the time comes. Am I supposed to go the the Manteca Police Department? Or SJ Sheriff's Office?
I'm asking because I remember seeing in the paper that Manteca's police chief was going to follow the ruling on the "good cause" requirement. And that's where I got confused. I thought it was up to the county's sheriff? I just want to get familiar with the process.Leave a comment:

Went in today and smoothly picked up my permit. The staff were all courteous and professional. There was no issue with my training cert being dated in May. I got a bonus surprise when I was told that since I had applied previously, my fees due were treated as a renewal. That was $50 less than expected!
There were 4 others in the office while I was there, 1 address change, 1 renewal and 2 new issues.
While I wish this would have happened sooner, I am very glad to finally have my permit!Leave a comment:
