A right delayed is a right denied. I thought they had 30 days to issue once they got the app. If they aren't following the law, why should they expect anyone else to? If you are clear to buy a gun, you should be able to carry it. Anything less is BS. When I got my NV permit 10+ years ago I thought the 2 month wait was crazy. 6 years ago when I got my WA permit, it took two weeks, still too long but not unreasonable. A year or more is unconscionable.

How long has it been taking for all of you that have been getting your CCW renewal? Mine is up in Feb 2017. Also I am like others that have been carrying for over a year now in that it's like I don't even know my firearm is on me. I carry 100% of the time. My firearm is like a piece of clothing and is a part,of me.

That 'feeling' that you're being watched wears off after a few weeks of carrying. No one walks around looking for CCW guys who are printing. Even if you are printing, a person with no knowledge of guns will not know. I have about 20 close friends in a church group and we see each other every weekend, I've never told them about my CCW, not one have ever noticed that I am carrying, and I've had my CCW since last year. As far as a 'super citizen', I find that I am more conscious about my driving speed a lot more, and more aware of known speed traps, and I no longer make rolling stops or 'Hollywood stops' at stop signs.

I make sure I'm not printing with my IWB, and my Sneaky Pete is an ugly OWB which I pass off as a tablet holder, though effective. Anyway, I'm careful not to wear any clothing that promotes carrying like a t-shirt I recently saw, "Conceal and carry on." But I guess the newness is still very present. I carry myself normally and don't behave differently except minding my own business more. I almost feel like I need to be a super citizen and walk the straight line more than before. Thoughts?

This is so true. When I first started carrying, I was so conscious that people would notice that I am carrying. After a few weeks, you get used to it, and it will become second nature. Also, no one walks around looking to see if another person is carrying a gun or if they are printing, people are staring at their cell phones more than anything these days. Well, maybe except for guys who just got their CCW Just act normal, no one will know.

No one is paying attention to whether or not you have a gun, people are so self centered these days they don't bother looking around for shady people, much less good people and whether or not they might be armed.

I was under the impression, from posts awhile back, that the already excessive wait times were shortening. From reading the recent posts, it seems to be longer than ever. Now what is the excuse?

Picked up my modification this week and I was in and out in about 15 minutes but I had to wait a while even if I was there early.

PSA was pretty swamped. While I was waiting, there were 2 people waiting to be interviewed for their initial CCW, 2 just got through their renewal interview, and 4 were waiting for their renewal interview in the lobby.

I submitted my modification form last week. It looks like I have a couple weeks to go.

    ^^ what he said.
Short version, "Self Defense" is cause enough in SJ Cty. 3 guns MAX on permit; serial no. and caliber must jive between gun/state database/training certificate. Expect 10-12 months total to get approved (or disapproved), +16 hrs. training.

I see they are shall issue on the CCW map. I'm trying to collect as much info on it as I can.

What are current good cause statements? I'm guessing it takes a little be more than sitting down and demanding "muh rights!"
"Self defense" for the San Joaquin Sheriff. That's it. Take some time and read through this post. It's a gold mine of information you're looking for.
