I called the S.O. a few minutes ago. They started working on August applications last week. She said I should be hearing from someone in a couple of weeks after I told her my app/interview date was August 25.Leave a comment:

When I interviewed in December of 2014, the retired LEO I met with was very pro-CCW. Sounds like San Joaquin is going in the right direction hiring additional staff. What's crazy is that just over the hill in Alameda Co. it is virtually impossible for a private citizen to obtain a CCW. What a sad state of affairs...Leave a comment:

CCW Approved 6/26/15
Update on my friends CCW which was approved on Friday.
Application drop-off, interview, and Live Scan - July 2, 2014
Investigator phone call and request for employers firearm policy - May 21, 2015
Approval call and permit pick-up instructions - June 26, 2015
From application to approval, it took 359 days or 6 days short of 1 year.
Glad to hear the budget includes some help for CCW processing. Also glad that the Sheriff has continued to approve permits given the current state of the Peruta case.
Good luck to those who are still going through the process.Leave a comment:

My guess is retired Leo that's who I believe they have now and some are volunteers
It may take a few more ths but there are going g to be growing pains for sure, if they can have it cleared up come renewal time for the initial wave they will be doing pretty goodLeave a comment:

It could still take a while to see any noticeable increase in permits . Because the budget year starts July 1st could be lag time to hire people interviews background etc. unless they hire retired LeoLeave a comment:

That's good news. That would seem to get indicate that the sheriff is serious about moving forward with CCWs. I assume that the sheriff would have to have requested those funds from the board of supervisors in order for that allocation to be made. It would also seem to indicate support from the board of supervisors for CCWs in San Joaquin County.Leave a comment:

So based on Paladin's advice in post 2263 above, I contacted the board of supervisors for the county asking about the delays and got this response:
Supervisor Elliott asked me to thank you for sharing your concerns, and to share with you that the Board of supervisors approved the 2015-2016 Budget today, which included resources for the Sheriff to hire two new background investigators to work on concealed weapon applications.Leave a comment:

I'm wondering how long it's going to take for renewals? They were approving a lot more back around September/October of last year, so there's going to be a big rush late next year.Leave a comment:

I spoke to them on Monday and they said they were on July 13/14Leave a comment:

OK so my wife's cousin applied first week of July, received a call last week that she was approved and her permit was just waiting on Moore's signature and was the fourth one in the stack and to go take her classLeave a comment:
