Applied June 11 and chose an interview date at the end of August. Received my conformation today. I'm nervous as I'll have to explain a few items in more detail.

Filled out all my paperwork and will have one part notarized closer to my interview date. May consider one more firearm if a sale pops up.

Was told it was a small class. normal classes are around 180-200 people per day... Everyone there was there for education class and qualification. If you were present on Saturday that was because you passed the backround etc.. Hope that answers your question.

              Interesting ...

That is a different processing system than here in Riverside County.

              Thanks for your reply

Got my interview tomorrow and absolutely sure my paperwork is in order. I reviewed my Questionnaire. Had a few things in the past mainly traffic violations and a vandalism arrest as a minor that I never was actually charged with anything. I listed everything I think could come up. I have gotten security clearances with the military and my govt job currently so hopefully things come back quick.

Besides going over the questionnaire, fingerprinting, and having my picture taken what else should I expect?

And don't over-think it. Should be easier than a security clearance.

Went in for my interview today left early because I’ve never been to the part of SB before got there a bit early and reviewed my paperwork in the parking lot. Went in about 10 minutes from my appointment time and it wasn’t a problem, signed in and was told to fill out a form. He the interview, reviewed my paperwork, took my money orders, took my picture, then my fingerprints, and all done. Signed out and left within 30ish minutes?

Some thoughts on the interview process.

-the guy did not care about any of my traffic tickets I’ve probably had maybe 5 in the past 10 years, didn’t even care about the most recent one I had in February this year.

                        - interviewer only cared about the title 1 lawsuit until I told him I was apart of the complaint and it wasn’t against me. Then he only asked more in depth about the speed contest I had listed. He asked the top speed and if they arrested me or just issued a citation. I was just issued a citation and had to do about 800 community hours. Oh and what type of car I was driving (92 accord LOL). After that nothing about my questionnaire was questioned. Hopefully it doesn’t effect my application and it was over a decade ago.

                        - I was mainly worried about the graffiti arrest I had and went into detail about the arrest. I was a minor and I told him they brought me in but I was never told to go to court, never paid a fine, and never heard anything about it. Even when I had an investigator ask me about it for when I was joining the military they didn’t find any charges about it or they didn’t care. Even when I had to get a new security clearance for a federal job I always bring it up and nothing comes of it.

The dude was super chill and professional even offered me some food they had from a potluck or something they were having while taking my prints. Hopefully that’s a good sign. He did say the FBI background check can probably take up to 9 months so that sucks to hear. Oh well, just have to wait and hit the range more to make sure I stay proficient!

EDIT: NYSRPA v BRUEN decision came out today 6-3 in favor of gun rights! I’m glad I had my application in before the impending flood of applicants.

How long does it take from the time of the background check until you get scheduled for the class

How often do you have to renew and how difficult is the renew process?

                              Do you have a CCW?
The SBCSD CCW site is a great source for education.
