        Since you are applying before your expiration, I would think you will be processed as a renewal and not have to go through the new applicant process.
        However that's cutting it real close and you might have to go a while without a permit, until you get your new card.

            Applied for my renewal 7-16-24 with everything uploaded. Got my approval e-mail 8-26-24
            It states: "do not come in for your new card until 3 days before your current expiration date".

            This makes sense, as they are trying to make you get the most time for your permit. Is everyone else getting this message on your approval notice?

              Yes, I received the same message once my renewal permit was approved.

              Please pick up your new permit card no sooner than three (3) days prior to the expiration on the current permit (NO APPOINTMENT IS REQUIRED FOR PICKUP)

                    RivCo uses Permitium;

                    They are recommending you start your live scan as soon as possible. I guess that takes the longest.
                    I'm not sure of the wait time,;

                        They're issuing two licensee now. A blue tinted one (for the state) and green one for the county.

                            Both are provided because of revised CA policies requiring the blue one, though it doesn't seem to be official yet. Sheriff providing both to reduce hassle. They told me to carry the green and keep blue in case things change.

                            They're very slightly different. Almost not really noticeable.

                              Officially a Riverside County resident as of 10/2024. Only thing I’m waiting on is for the DMV to mail me my replacement DL card with my updated current address so I can apply for RivCo. My LA County CCW is set to be valid until 03/31/2025 and I am to surrender it by 04/01/2025.

                                Yeah, I had to stare at mine for like 2-3 minutes before I realized the top band was almost imperceptibly more blue than the green one.
