Well had my interview with Dep. Yezzo, this week. Very cool guy also Dep. Aguirre. It went well. Now I have my livescan this Tues. Then the class on Dec. 3rd. Then the wait.

Concur on the suggestion to get with Sleighter, very helpful indeed. That being said, my experience is that the deputies have a "how can we make this work" attitude and seem to want us to succeed.

A healthy amount of apprehension and humility is to be expected, but I found the interaction and RSD experience to be pleasant.

      Cheers and good luck.

Sleighter has been very helpful in that area and I would be glad to help also. I was very active on a CCW forum before it folded and helped a few members get their GC squared away for the interview. But as has been mentioned, Deps Yezzo and Aguirre are both very helpful and have the attitude that all good guys should be armed. They will critique the GC without judgement or prejudice and give you their feeling about whether or not it will pass muster. They may even offer suggestions on how to bolster certain aspects of the GC that are germane to the process. From what you've disclosed on your post above you're in the ball park. Just make sure that you describe, in vivid detail, those encounters that you felt uneasy or that your life, limb, and/or property were in peril. You're on the right track if you just elaborate more on some details.

Good luck and don't sweat the interview process. The CCW unit wants you to have a CCW almost as bad as you do. Almost...

I emailed for my renewal appointment before I went to bed and had a reply with my appointment date before COB the next day. I mentioned it to a friend of mine who qualified with me so he hurriedly emailed. He got a reply the same day telling him to just come in with me. Once you're in the system, it seems to be smooth sailing.

Had my first renewal interview about 2 weeks ago. How long would you expect to wait for your new license? Thanks.

Tomorrow is the big day.... I have my interview in the morning. It has been almost a year since I made my appointment. I seem to recall someone doing their live scan close to Ben Clark. I may as well get it done while I'm out there and have the day off. Does anyone know where I can get it done that is close to Ben Clark?

My interview is one week away! A good place to get LiveScan is also appreciated.

RSO has a substation in the mall in Temecula that is usually not busy at all. I believe it is the quickest place to get them done. Ask the deputies when you are there, they are the ones who recommended it to me.

They will give you Live Scan request form with the authorized places to get it done and if I remember correctly it is at a lower cost than going and getting it done yourself.

Let me know how your interviews go!

I did my livescan @ RPD in downtown Riverside. It was really easy and fast.

I would call the approved place on the list below NOW to see if they have an appointment same-day as your interview. Remember, you need the livescan paperwork from the CCW division BEFORE you go to livescan. Allow two hours for your CCW appointment (they were running late when I did mine, and I was out about two hours after my appointment time.) BTW, if I remember correctly, livescan ONLY takes cash. Keep in mind-it takes about 5-6 MONTHS after you do your lifescan to get your results. Sorry.

[from the letter they give you at the interview]

I got my livescan done at the Moreno Valley police station. I went straight over there after my interview. I got lucky that they had a cancellation and were able to do it right there on the spot. otherwise I would have had to make an appointment.

As far as how my interview went, I had all my ducks in a row before I got there. EXCEPT..... two of my character references have to be rewritten. They need to state in the letter that they aware you are applying for a CCW permit. Two of my statements did not state this so they were rejected.
