Rumor has it that a Novato resident that recently was issued a CCW permit, left the police station smelling of strawberries on his breath. Was this you?

Took 3 months from start to finish, the physiological test costs more than it shown on the application, but it only has to be done the first time and the permit is only valid for one year, so I guess every 9 months I will start the process again.

Based off of what others have written in the other Bay Area counties CCW threads, Marin seems to be surprisingly organized and streamlined when it comes to the application process. Many applicants from other counties report having to wait several months before getting the go ahead to schedule the livescan appointment and even longer to schedule the psych appointment.

However, given how quiet this thread is, and Marin's relatively low population, it doesn't seem that there are many pending applications in the queue.

MCSO is now using Permitium for online application submission. I'm not sure if this make a difference in terms of processing time.

Has anyone applied since the application changes? Any new information regarding the interviews or the pysch evaluations.

              San Rafael Police Dept.

Anyone in Marin have their CCW through the SRPD? Curious if its for one or two years and what the experience of obtaining it was like.

Seems the Sheriff has handed off all CCW duties to the various city's PD's - reached out at the start of the year to discuss timing for renewal and was referred to the PD for it now.

Guys, I was thinking that prior to sending in my application, I wanted to prep my references for the kind of questions that the Sheriff would be asking. A lot of my friends are not really pro 2A so I am limited on who I can ask besides my wife.

Any advice and/or feedback would be greatly appreciated.
                Thanks.

I met with the officer handling the CCW's for San Rafael PD yesterday, very pleasant. He is being proactive, he emailed me a week ago to find out if I wanted to renew! I did my livescan and chatted with him, told me the turn around time should be 2-3 weeks for the renewal! Well done and way to go SRPD.

Good to hear that about SRPD. Livescan are required for renewals?

So, I just picked up my renewal! From start to finish, it was under 90 days. I have to give a big thumbs up to Joe and the SRPD for how they handled the process.
