$3,000 for 2 years seems cheap, maybe they are missing some zero's, or it's $3k a month. LASD has zero excuse for not moving to it, LASD would save thousands every month in people costs having to handle all the paper, and the process would be transparent to those who applied.

Once you do your firearms training, you can qualify with a different gun from the one listed on your DOJ application. I can vouch for this, as I qualified with a different handgun than the one I listed. You will be carrying the one that you qualified with.



Actually this just changed. You can now add or remove a handgun onto your permit before renewal. Strange that they changed this considering they are backed-up.

Guys, if your livescan fully cleared and it's been over 6 weeks, email CCW_unit@lasd.org to confirm if they sent proceed to training email or not. Mine cleared on 8/10 and no email. When I asked them to confirm, they said they sent proceed to training email on 9/19. I got a reply within an hour.

Just passed 10 weeks for me, gave this a shot this morning. They responded within the hour to tell me my files are still pending review, so at least I have that going for me.

My timeline in case anyone finds it useful for reference:

Check cashed: Sept 10 2021
Interview: Jun 1 2022
Live Scan start: Jun 2 2022

Pretty much the same questions they asked during the initial interview, but now it's more focused on the last two years of having the permit.

My friend is going through the renewal process as well. His permit expires in December. He turned in his renewal app end of September. They already called him for his phone interview. A week after, they told him to go to firearms training.....so it sounds like they catching up with things.

I wonder if renewal will be that smooth after 50,000 more permits are issued. 2 years is really too short.

I definitely did too, but day is not over yet! My friend picked up his permit, and he was at 5 weeks for the call

No clue on specific time of day. I got the call for my interview in the afternoon, and the call for signature and utility bill at 8 am. I've seen a post here mention after 5pm before too. No rhyme or reason it seems
