Coworker had his interview today. He said it went well and the deputy said he will prepare his supporting documents to submit to his supervisor.

He did ask for a letter from employer to support his good cause that he used for employment as one of the good cause.

Tap Rack Bang, an approved CCW trainer, does informative IG lives every Monday night. I've taken their lessons and Ernie and Brendon are just excellent trainers and so generous with their knowledge.

When I told them my Shield I got for CCW has such a mushy trigger, they encouraged me to get an Apex trigger.

I thought we weren't supposed to mess with any internals for a CCW gun, but they assure me that LASD policy allows any modifications as long as it's CA legal, as they've gotten this guidance directly from the CCW unit. Each Issuing Agency has their own rules on what can and can't be modified on a CCW gun.

So for folks who picked up their permit already, did they give you a sheet explaining what the policy is regarding approved modifications?

I searched the general CCW forum and didn't find the answer, other than check with your IA, and lots of arguments between leaving gun stock (even if modification is allowed) vs modifying it.

Ohhhh that was you that asked that question. Yep a previous trainer i had also said you can modify your pistol as long as it's a legal configuration but you also have to qualify with it during CCW training with the mods.

Interview today. Went really well. Deputy said to proceed with LS and training. I told him I did both already. He said it will take "4-6 weeks" from now. Did he mean 4-6 weeks for an email to come pick up the permit? How do they contact you to pick up?

I went with apex trigger for my G19. It has a really strong reset which I really like.

my ccw instructor who's a sheriff deputy told my class do not modify your gun if you get in a shooting they will take your gun and send it to a lab to check for mods like trigger work. but do what you want just giving heads up.
