I encourage you guys to monitor all LASD and AV social media starting Wed the 30th through Thursday July 8th to see if LASD or AV make any announcement about liberalizing further acceptable CCW GC.

Question fellas:

My CCW instructor was vague about ccw'ing in a car. He said a locked container permanently affixed to the vehicle with the gun unloaded, and the clips in a separate location. He suggested that you keep 2 clips in the side drivers door pocket and a cabled lock box under your seat for the gun.

I thought that was the law like if I'm going to the gun range, but with an approved ccw license I could leave my gun in my waist holster under my belt under my shirt concealed while driving?

So every time I get in the car unload my pistol and put it in the lockbox and every time I before I get out of my car reload my pistol and put it in my concealed holster?

Please share your thoughts?

I'm pretty sure your instructor was talking about leaving the gun in the car when you go into a federal building, bar, or other location where you are not allowed to carry. In that case, you can't just toss it in the glove box or stuff it under the seat. You have to put it in a locked container.

Hopefully he adds additional personnel to handle the added workload. My app was delivered, but I have a feeling with just the current applications and pace, it will be 2022 before any movement. I waited too long to turn it in.

That was probably me. I still haven't got a call to pick up or an email for training. Last email from them was June 16th.

Anyone know if CCW is permitted if you go to a bar or a place that does not serve food only alcoholic beverages. It was not mentioned in my training and when I google it, I see forum posts stating it is a common myth to believe it is forbidden in California when it is technically allowed. The posts were from years ago.

I know if you are carrying then you are not allowed to have any alcohol. However, I am curious if allowed to carry and remain sober.

It is prohibited to carry "in a place having a primary purpose of dispensing alcoholic beverages for onsite consumption". Not state statutory law, but sure is a condition of having a CCW, and as someone else noted, this is pretty common among most issuing agencies.
