If this was the case, the DOJ and FBI portion would also get delayed because of bad prints. As of right now, everyone is getting delayed in the firearms portion. My DOJ and FBI cleared the same day. I have tried to ask what the firearms portion is but I am still not positive. The deputy I asked said it gives them access to look up your guns on your application in the DOJ's database. He said it does not give them a list but they can search for your serial numbers and it will show if it is valid and registered to you. Take it for what it's worth because I have been given multiple responses to other CCW questions that were inconsistent.
Theoretically, the live scan should clear within a few hours of when you submit your prints. The only reason it might take longer is if your prints are very light, not enough ridge detail (usually masons, construction workers, older people, or tweekers), or just rolled bad. If that is the case, one’s prints would be kicked out of the system and someone will have to manually I’d you via the prints. That could take a while.
So, I was wondering if DOJ is slowing things down, kind of like the 10 day wait to purchase a firearm. I’m sure DOJ does not want this many CCW’s issued.
Just my personal theory and opinion.Last edited by dazz397; 05-19-2021, 10:08 PM.LA County CCW Renewal

That is good information to know. I personally was not sure what the firearms section of the live scan consisted of. Thanks for sharing.

I know for a fact this is not true. All my 1911's have work done on it. All approved. You will not find anywhere in writing, that only grips, sights, lasers, etc. are allowed.NRA Benefactor Life Member
