Finally picked up on Tuesday after applying in August 2021! Are there any laws in LA County prohibiting modifications such as replacing the stock slide with pre-cut slide and optic on your carry? Or grip stippling? I am only hesitant because these parts contain serial numbers.

Definitely don't plan to modify anything that would compromise safety such as the trigger.

It will be interesting to see when LAPD issues there first CCW and what the total time is. Im feeling like us LASD people are going to be jealous.

They told me to bring my application, do the live scan, and bring all of my paperwork. He suggested I not do the training now. He also told me to bring a cashiers check for $53 made payable to City of LA.

If there is a list of approved Training Vendors I would do it. To me it would be worth the cost of doing it and then show up with it and just say hey I had the time so I did the training and get that in your application as well. Expecially if they said it was ok to do your Live Scan before your interview.

I made this mistake with LASD. Identical applications and identical good cause when it was still required with someone else and they were accepted and I was denied. It was a waste of $200 and an entire day of work. If they say hold off, hold off. Wait until we know for sure. I am not convinced it would even speed up your process. I bet you they process in chunks. So they would wait until X amount are ready with all paperwork and then they process. They just won't process as they come, that's not how bureaucracies work.
You bring up some good points.

Congrats! Modifications are allowed depending on the IA. I e-mailed the CCW unit a while back asking this question. They responded that modifications are allowed as long as the firearm remains compliant. I saved and archived that e-mail. I would e-mail the ccw unit and have them respond back to you so that you can save that e-mail as a CYA.

                  From the LASD CCW Website:
"Customization to firearms are permitted as long as it does not violate any State or Federal regulation."

Glad you stuck with it and got an interview with PD!

LASD's 14-18 month estimate is against the DOJ's own requirements and unacceptable by any measure.
Shocked how quickly they are getting interviews set up!

I'm already jealous that they are getting interviews 2-3 months out from calling, while I waited 10 months for mine

Just to add, LAPD hasn't clarified how long the training is valid for. It's possible it's only valid for 90 days, so if approval takes longer than that you'd have to do training all over again.

I mailed my application and followed up with an email on the 12th and finally got a response today asking to clarify if I had previously emailed about getting on the list. Not so smooth. Crazy chatsworth got a call back and appointment same day. I’d be happy with a December appointment though!

Anyone know where we are at regarding interview/application times? I submitted my application mid Feb, I have to be close to an interview right?
