I would love to know how CCW unit works. We're seeing reports of guys getting calls who submitted in late May. And then Jiral gets a call who's app was late April.

Congrats on the call. Just a couple more months ahead of you and you'll be joining the ranks of LA CCW!

I still have a CO worker from mid April that has not even had a interview. He emailed ccw unit last week and they acknowledged that they have his application. His check was even cashed in May.

Alright guys, I had a consultation with Steven Lieberman (co-owner of Artemis Defense Institute/attorney) on Tuesday to review my GC, submitted app/materials, and the circumstances leading up to and surrounding my denial. In short, after reading half of my GC he was very much of the opinion that LASD straight up ****ed up and mixed my app up with someone else’s good cause or something. He told me that my GC was absolutely sufficient and that he sees no reason for a denial outside of a legitimate mistake on their part. He also told me he even had a retired client who was issued on the basis of speculative defense against wild animals while hiking in remote areas, although I’m unsure of the timeline in which this person was issued. In any event, he helped draft a letter on my behalf to be sent via registered mail to the Lt. care of the CCW Coordinator, since I have still not been able to make contact with her despite many calls and leaving a message. The letter includes copies of the denial, my original GC, and the evidence that was declined by the second deputy/“interview.”

He was really helpful and, although he said this still may not amount to anything, this is at least one way to keep forward momentum on the matter. I hope this actually catches someone’s attention down there!

          Yea man I don't know.

When my sources spoke with the LT, she said she's not issuing on LG/recreational.

But hope the appeal works for you

I do believe that, however there have definitely been some whispers of LG slipping through, at least in some Reddit comments. The veracity of those is obviously up in the air, but still worth pursuing even if only to get definitive answers.

I've trained at Artemis and Steven and team are awesome!

Steven also hosts online office hours every Tuesday, answering all your firearms legal related questions.

I'm glad he was able to help you and I really hope LASD gives you another shot at a CCW, esp. if they made a mistake on their end. Please keep us updated!

It will be very interesting to see if the powers that be feel compelled to take a second look or at least offer further explanation or justification. As far as I know, LASO is under no obligation to respond in any way and their decision is, as the movie quote goes, "beyond contestation". However complete stonewalling is not good public/voter relations.
I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

The more time I spend on this forum, the more sense kcbrown makes.

You're not going to get anything out of the firing lines course. But it's the cheapest course in LA.

I value training so I went to TRB
I agree. I've been an attorney for 24 years, and I know I still have stuff to learn. So laymen should definitely be learning all they can, not cheaping out on legal training.

I took the renewal course at Firing Line HB. Basically sat through a movie that wasn't even California-specific. That CCW instructor is mailing it in and doing students a disservice.

I thought the course taught by former FBI agent Ben Hansen was very good, although he's in OC.

Try Medic Up. Ron is a great guy. He offers private classes or group classes. He also includes stop the bleed into his ccw course.

I think a couple on here got them too.

Occam's razor would suggest that there was some confusion following Villanueva loosening the standard, and perhaps some LGs got through before it was made clear that Yellow or higher is required.
