Are they still only doing one class a month. I read earlier they scheduled a second class for October. Does that mean there are second classes every month? Sound off on your class dates so we can try to make sense on this. Thx in advance

That is great to hear. Even doing something that "isn't that hard" can take time. Particularly with the all the potential legal/political issues that would come to the SO if a mistake gets made. I'm pleased that the SO acted immediately after the Bruen decision to eliminate good cause from their current process, and accept and approve applications. Check out the Santa Clara and Alameda forums to see what we could have gotten.

Of course their current process is going to be insufficient, but if they are working towards a better one, that is good news.

In this case, I think the simple answer is the most likely answer. They are overwhelmed with the volume and have no possibility of scheduling all the approved applicants into their existing range qualification process. My guess is they are trying to fix that first. Let's see if they get creative....it is not a hard problem to solve.

Would not surprise me all all to find that someone in the Sacramento politburo noticed that the San Mateo County Sheriff office was doing their best to abide by a ruling of the SUPREME court, and made a couple of calls to put a stop to that.

Or more hopefully, the SO knows that they cannot possibly process all the applicants with their current classes/range qual system within any reasonable time frame, and is in the middle of transitioning to something more efficient. And they don't want to schedule any more folks until they have that set up.

That's what I'd like to believe anyway.....

Definitely hoping the latter is true. I wonder if the impending change in leadership has any effect on this. Maybe they don't want to schedule too many courses into next year. We don't know what policies the Sheriff-elect will implement when she takes over in January.

Call me crazy, but something isn’t right. Seems like they shut it down. Haven’t heard of anyone getting approved for more than a week and a half now.

Me and my wife both did everything through the application process at the same time. Results all came back at the same time too. Neither of us have anything weird on our records, but she is a nurse and had to be in the system with a live scan already. No interview for her, I'm not yet approved so I am not sure.

That's weird. I guess it's something only they know or maybe it's just a luck of the draw. And I don't really think having a previous live scan affects the process. There are people here who have COEs who are on the same boat.

Yupp. My Jan 2018 renewal was using Permetium, but I think that was around when they started, I remember a number of issues with the process.

Just to add a little more information for others. Both my wife and I applied same day. The time line is as follows:
Applied 6/24
Scanned 6/25
CA b/g 7/8
FBI b/g 7/6
Firearms 8/4

She was approved on 8/31. I didn't receive any notice yet. She missed the initial call and received an email and a text to pay the remaining fee. She scheduled the range qualifications when she got a call back to remind her to set up a appt on 9/7. She was able to set up an appointment for 10/23. She emailed to ask about the holsters and a officer instructed her to bring a good quality holster and said it didn't matter if it was IWB or OWB. She decided she is going to bring OWB because she think it's easier and less stressful to qualify with. She asked the person on the phone about my application and was told "...moving through the chain of command." Hope this hopes clear up somethings for you guys

Where doesnot show when your ba k ground cleared? I go througj extensive sexurity b/g check yearly, but my status is still pending. I applied the day bruen was ruled on

My Qual class is on 10/16. Can you confirm your 10/23 appt? I thought they were only doing 1 class per month at the moment.

Interesting. Did you or your wife have to do an interview? Did both of your live scans complete at the same time? And are there any other variables/factors that might've affected your application (if you are comfortable sharing)? Still trying to figure out how they are going about doing things. Thanks for sharing!
