the range being open the the public net is $0.00 it costs the SO money
the range fees can pay for additional staffing that the SM Sheriff needs.

There were four people in the email I received from the SO:

    One reserve deputy
    One full-time executive secretary
    One full-time sergeant/range master
One management analyst who appears to be a retired police officer and former deputy sheriff

I used to shoot at Coyote Point. Never thought I'd return only for qualification. Would like to see the new facility nevertheless.

Regardless of what policies the agency followed in the past, the people working on the situation now seem to be responding and responsive. As ASD1 noted I'm sure they have other duties in addition to CCW processing. Despite this they added two additional classes (October and November) and have classes scheduled out to February already with applicants who have passed the rest of the background process. That means about 160 processed waiting for training? Not bad for a three person department in 2.5 months.

I know they are working on other solutions to reduce the backlog as well.
That's great, but like qualifying for a CCW (like paying for an item or being in Sales)- "close" or "better" but not meeting the criteria is still a fail- results are all that matter. It is not difficult to see that adding a couple people won't get this resolved quickly- guys have already done forecasts in this thread- but you go carry CCW without a permit, get caught, and all the talking in the world about how busy they are and they're nice guys and really trying hard ain't gonna get you off the hook. Why does it go one way? It sure would have if the Urgency criteria was met on the CCW vote- the AB would go into effect immediately.

I'm exaggerating of course to make the point. You can bet if Risk Management felt fines were in the making for not getting it done there would be a dozen people on the CCW team cranking them out. Afterall, there is no good cause or real interview (unless you got a past) any longer. I look forward to seeing it get done- keep the pressure on.

Yes, PC 26205 is still in play, but it has not been 90 days for anyone who submitted their application post-Bruen. For those who submitted their apps on day the of the decision (06/23), the SO will have until 09/21 to make a determination.

Is the 90 day “yes or no” still in play? If I’m not mistaken it is the law.

Now with the overload of requests, it's no easy task to stay above water on these.
also the range staff have a 40hr week.

they have other duty's other than CCW class.

In the past they swapped 1 friday a month for sunday to do the class.

So its going to take some time to staff up and or move people around.

The SO only has so many instructors and RSO's

    Wow, you are #190, I was told I'm #371.

Online says CA completed 7/18, FBI completed 7/18 and Firearms completed 8/10. I was told they still needs to finish reviewing my weapons registration and background check. Once that's done I would be moved up the chain of command for review decision, interview, and mandatory training and qualification. I only listed one handgun to carry. Emails from the County have been swift and informational, so I don't want bother them. They said be patient.

I believe someone earlier said the SO is working on trying to add an additional class in for the remainder of the year (Nov and Dec). But there hasn't been confirmation yet.
