Totally not an expert by any means when it comes to any of this lol. I'm just trying to stay hopeful that it pans out for those of us without CCWs yet.

Alan Dershowitz was on and said it is immediate in all 50 states and there is nothing they can do to change shall issue. They can disqualify people somewhere in the process they are using which makes me wonder if we can apply anywhere in California outside of this County.

Armed Scholar on youtube said sheriffs will probably lie and discourage you to apply and said to go forward and appeal or sue if denied.

It honestly makes me want to apply right now then if that's the case, many people have been putting the ruling today as their GC because essentially "GC" is no more after today technically.

I warned people in a post a week or so ago that a friend in the process said AC county would still deny people even if SCOTUS ruled for Shall Issue.

The voicemail confirms they are up to some shenanigans. It's sad some people don't like to give up power to the people.

Ahern is a lame duck right now, nothing will happen change until Sanchez is sworn in next January. If she keeps status quo, then FPC and CRPA come to play.

Sure glad he is out of office, with the ruling today and him out of office, the future is starting to look much brighter

IIRC whoever carries the county’s legal liability insurance will tell the BoS that unless they want to lose their liability insurance coverage, do not be negligent in revising their CCW policies and procedures….

Plus IIRC there’s direct civil and criminal liability (no qualified immunity) for intentionally violating someone’s civil rights. If Ahern is smart (he’s not), he’ll revise ASAP. There are plenty of hungry lawyers with new cause of actions….

Good points Paladin some lawyers are saying apply and hope to get denied.
So you can litigate and get a free permit and maybe a new Electric Car.

where to apply? City, County, or State?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask and it's no doubt been asked before.
I am in Pleasanton which is listed at the top as one of the cities in AC that issue CCW's. Does that mean as a resident of Pleasanton, I MUST apply there? or does it mean I "may" apply there. Similar question about applying at the Count or State level. If I have a CCW from Pleasanton, does it apply anywhere else or just in Pleasanton.

Although a police chief may issue ccws most defer to the county sheriff. You must live in the county in which it is issued. With that said, apply with the county sheriff

Any CCW issued in California is Statewide from what I read from consumer affairs. Hopefully, in the future all CCW requests go to the Consumer Affairs like most states.

I live in a city that forces you to file with the AC Sheriff. I just applied with AC and have a scheduled date in August for an interview. You live near Dublin there is a fish game place you should sign up it is a requirement to get training and needed to have it before the appointment most classes are full.

Yeah, we call that store "Guns and Sh#t"
Signed up for the July 30/31 session. According to them, Alameda County requires the 16hour course. I took a shotgun class there back in 2020.

                          Thanks for the info.

Assembly Bill No. 2103 requires no less than 8 hours and no more than 16 hours of training for a new permit. But that may change soon. I wonder if you can challenge with other Out of states and training online such as Hunter license or NRA.

Does anyone know if Alameda County requires the 16-hour training to be completed prior to the interview? I can't find anything on their website about it. I submitted my application and have an interview date scheduled but have not scheduled the training yet. I assumed I had to wait to see if they would either deny me upfront or allow me to proceed?

It's in the Assembly Bill No. 2103 https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/f...01720180AB2103

In my reading of the bill. Since they are now a Shall issue state they will approve but not give you the permit until you provide proof of training and passing the course.

I have been to training and people have been kicked out of class and the Range they are all business.

                                (e) The applicant shall not be required to pay for any training courses prior to the determination of good cause being made pursuant to Section 26202.
