What kind of liability would be on Alameda for failing to adhere to the 90 day application requirement (I forget if this is Bruen) if something went down and I couldn?t protect myself? The fact the last few comments are indicating ~700 applicants in July, and they?ve only gotten through 100 + or - post bruen?hard to stomach how much longer we have ahead.
Not condoning ACSO's handling, but if you are that worried and concerned, why didn't you apply back in June immediately after the Bruen decision?

6/25 applicant here. If it?s helpful to anyone who took their CCW class early like me (the soonest available was 7/16 for me), I reached out to Judea after receiving my okay to move forward with the class and she confirmed that I was good to go. Unfortunately my class at the time didn?t do any scored quals (only mocks) so I just coordinated with one of the current approved vendors for the range session only. Scored 97% on both weapons. Otherwise, I could have skipped it. Now the waiting game for the permit pick up. 🤷🏻*♂️

Three to four weeks when they get a build up and then process a bunch at once. Good luck.

Ignorance really?took Bruen to create the awareness that a ccw was now possible for me. That, coupled with what feels like a more violent surrounding (or just more news/reporting on it), those were my motivators. Also, the fact that just because I believe in protecting my family at my home, doesn?t immediately mean I?m comfortable doing so outside the house. It took me about 5 weeks and more headlines to come to my census there and just apply.

Had I been 6months ahead of the curve, would have been following this group and thread much earlier and would have made the jump the night of- shoulda-woulda-coulda

The last batch of 55 were mostly issued by the end of April to make the monthly count. I would assume that May is the same, so the emails should go out soon or the May count will fall well below the April total - which would mean less progress with more staffing = CRPA problem for them.

BTW just completed my training and qual with Larry and Sandi at Security Six. I would highly recommend them because they cut through all the admin crap and if you don't learn anything from them, you've got a problem!

Forgot to post an update. I've had my Alameda CCW for about 2-3 weeks now. I applied as soon as the notice from the Attorney General went out. It was almost a year start to finish (though some of that delay was the policy being in flux). Would've been sooner, but the Sheriff only started allowing the trainers to do the qualification after I'd gone through.

Picked up my CCW permit on Tuesday. FYI when I was there their card printing machine was out of ink. I got the laminated card and a photocopy of same to carry with me.

                      Applied: 6/24/22
                      Interview: 10/13/22
                      Livescan: 11/18/22
                      Psych: 1/12/23
                      8 Hour CCW Class: 4/8/23
                      Range Qual: 4/22/23
                      Permit pickup: 5/9/23

I likely could've qualified sooner had work travel not gotten in the way.

Agree, but we?re up to date two of the decision. They?re moving faster but the initial few weeks was a massive dump of applicants.

Congrats on your ccw! Could you please share more about why you had to take the training twice? Was the first training somehow not valid?

Also why was the 4hr qual separate from the 8hr training? I thought the 8hr training included the qual

                                Thanks.

                                OH BOY.

Really a long story. First I signed up for an 8 hour class and because of SB 918 I thought it best to just take a 16 hr class to get ahead of the curve in case it passed. It was close. I found out the company I took the 16 hr from dropped off the approved list so decided to go with an approved trainer on my own to avoid further delays or BS.

Then I was in communication with the lead trainer who was in direct contact with Judea Mulder (ACSO) and it was at the time the third party trainers were going to be able to qualify and not need to go to the Sheriff's range which I was led to believe was the case in the 8 hr class I did.

Upon attempting to get the qualifying cert, it came to light that the Sheriff's office didn't actually authorize third party trainers to start until a few weeks later. So I was SOL. Then, I still needed the qual so that is the 4 hr class.

Now, the best I know, they still do an 8 hr required class and then a 4 hr qual class.

The system was ever changing at the time I was going through this part of the CCW process. I just bit the bullet and stopped short of complaining to just get past all the confusion.

Now I have the CCW in hand and next will be the required annual re-qual unless CRPA gets involved as this is just raising the costs of a CCW .........
