I have not received anything from LA Sheriff other than the return receipt through the USPS.

Not really, because law enforcement in Los Angeles seem to think their job is to prevent you from carrying a firearm.

You fill out their application and explain to the best of your ability why you would need to carry. Then you let them decide if you should proceed to the training.

I just received my rejection from the LAPD, postmarked exactly 90 days after my interview. No reference to Peruta or self-defense. Just the explanation that they don't think the threat I described is imminent enough. Thanks LAPD.

Meanwhile, Officer Barnes, LAPD's head of CCW, is currently unable to be reached because he is at the SHOT Show.

In another thread someone claims that their friends have heard rumblings that there will be changes coming soon to the LAPD Gun Unit and their issuance of CCW permits.

LAPD Brass & city government are extremely stubborn and anti gun. The city in general thinks it is above the law and will probably be a CCW holdout. My bet is that LASO will end up issuing before LAPD.

It's been a bit over two months since they have received my app. Waiting on my rejection letter.

Yes and I think it's offensive that they need to drag this process out when they in fact have no intention to issue the CCW.

The standard DOJ form is the form that LASD uses for CCW applications. LASD does have some additional pages of instructions that can be downloaded from their website.

Basically the instructions say to fill out everything, even those pages that are supposed to be filled out during the interview, and mail the packet in to LASD HQ in Monterrey Park with $10.

If you are rejected for lack of GC, it shouldn't count against you in the future should you decide to apply again. If you are denied for lack of GMC, it may hurt your chances. You will have to inform the IA if you have been denied in the past and the reason for your denial.

I believe that state law says you are to apply to your county of primary residence. If you primarily reside in the NorCal county, then apply there. If you primarily reside in LA county, then you need to apply to LASD. If you move to another county then you can apply to that county once you have established residency there (typically once you have a utility bill for your new residence you can prove residency).

Good luck and welcome to the wait. My app has been in for almost a year now, waiting in the "Peruta Pile".
