Being from Northern cal, i was looking into job promotions in socal, depending on where I live, what is the status on LA County on getting a ccw?

I been carrying for almost a year but if I move I'll end up losing my permit.

Is counties in socal all different on issuing permits

Find out where your workplace will be located inside LA Co and then find the neighboring county closest to that and try to move just inside it's border for the shortest commute distance while still being able to get a CCW.

ugh. i knew my buddy didnt sound keen on his ccw knowledge.... he has his CCW permit through orange country and tells me he carries all over socal (into other counties). i thought the ccw was only good in the county you applied for. he thinks its good throughout the entire state. am i the one that is wrong?!

Yes, you're wrong. While you can only apply in your county of residence, once (if) you have it it's good throughout the state.

Me being from Fresno I don't follow on that stuff since we issue out for everyone

If you look at CGN's various OC threads (incl their Concealed Carry Co. Info thread in this subforum), you'll see that OC did NOT go all the way back to Hutchen's original standard (when she took over from Carona), which would have made them light red, but she went to requiring substantial GC (yellow). If you read the last two pages of OC's thread in this subforum, you'll see they're regularly issuing for reasonable GC.

IOW, it seems like gunnies thought things had gotten worse than they had (after the decision to go en banc in Peruta) AND then OC recently went back to Hutchen's more "liberal" GC standard (the one implemented after the 3 judge panel decision in Peruta).

Just an fyi re. the map: (1) it ONLY illustrates the county's GC standard, NOT their GMC because elevated GC is a barrier most law-abiding gunnies cannot pass whereas elevated GMC (interview, letters of reference, etc), are hurdles that needlessly cost us or the county time, money, and/or effort, but can be passed.

(2) While the map may be off by one "color" (e.g., a dark green county may be in fact light green), we really doubt any county is off by two colors (a light green county is really light red (or vice versa)). Of course, if something suddenly changes (sheriff dies of heart attack and new interim sheriff takes over), then the map will be invalid until there's a track record of the new administration re. CCW issuance.

Yeah, Peruta. It may force all CA counties to accept "self-defense"/"personal protection" as sufficient GC.
