Just did mine and there was a notice that said they would collect payment later. There was also a section to include references which I left blank; my application was still accepted. I guess if they want references, they'll ask.👍 2Comment

Got an email today (Saturday?) that the instructor put the wrong serial number on my certificate. Gotta get that corrected and email the new cert to my approving officer. No mention of the references I didn't list.Comment

Just an update as for as timing forSan Diego.
Got my email approval last Monday07/08.
Scheduled my class and range qual for 07/11 and sent in the paperwork and paid the $80 fee. ( grandfather for 8 hour)
07/12 I got an boiler plate email saying they received and they woul dmail permit 3-4 weeks.
07/18 permint was in the mail. It is the new hard plastic credit card size with the blue stripe on top
Seems like San Diego is really getting on top of things. I never had an email or question not answered.
I also had my ccw since 2008 or so but with some traveling I was doing and not in the country I let it laspe.
Not sure if my approval was 'easier" because of my background and having my permit previously.
But they seem to be working hard to get these out.
Just wanted to sahe my experience but if I can answer any questions LMK.Last edited by Papa "J"; 07-19-2024, 7:29 AM.Comment

Left the references section blank and just got my final payment/approval email today. Apparently, SDSO isn't playing the references game.
Just got the information about my renewal; seems I lost 3 weeks of my previous permit. The new permit is effective when it is issued, not when the old permit expires. Between my 1st renewal and this one, I've probably lost a month. I guess it really doesn't matter as the SDCSO is quick in their approvals.Last edited by ezaircon4jc; 07-27-2024, 2:38 PM.Comment

Good news on the references. My renewal is coming up at the end of the year and I've been trying to figure out how to handle the reference section since I don't have any friends.Left the references section blank and just got my final payment/approval email today. And yea, the loss of time is well known...and infuriating, given that the damn things are only good for two freaking years and they cost a fortune. It's Eff'd up. I haven't heard a cogent answer yet on why they have to do it this way. Did I mention that it's Eff'd up? ?
Congrats on the renewal!"Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."

Yeah. My renewal was $349ish, all in. I wonder what other Constitutional RIGHT comes with a fee ??
