    Hmmm.

As suggested above, I'm pretty sure the sheriff's website stated cannot submit a renewal earlier than 45 days late last year/early this year. And I don't recall it stating processing time in now 6 weeks, which is what it reads now.

I've pasted below the timeline for my previous renewal; the renewed permit arrived 6 days after submittal. Based on previous experience, this year I waited until 30 days before expiration to submit (on 2/28/25). Looks like I should have submitted as soon as the window opened.

-Submitted renewal application on Friday, 3/24/23.
-On Monday, 3/27/23, received e-mail and text message stating my renewal would be processed, with the caveat it will not be assigned to staff if the application is incomplete.
-On Tuesday, 3/28/23, received e-mail and text message stating my renewal has been approved.
-On Wednesday, 3/29/23, received an email and text message reminding me my permit is up for renewal.
-On Thursday, 3/30/23, my renewed permit arrived in the mail.

since seeing this last post by dr. t i figured i would check the sheriffs website. they changed it so that renewals can apply at the 60 day mark. it was 45 days when i last saw. good thing too as my 60 day comes up in the first.

Applying at 45 days prior to the expiration of the permit will likely result in not having a permit for some time. That's interesting. When I renewed in December, the statement on the Sheriff's site was that they didn't want you to begin your renewal until the 45 day mark, and CCW Pro had you locked out until that time. Now the Sheriff's site is saying 60 days and I assume CCW Pro has been aligned to that.

I wonder why things have slowed down??

You are correct. The FSC is the form you get upon completion of your 8 hours renewal course. There should be two pages to it...either a front and back to two separate pages...so make sure you upload both. Side Note: It's probably not a good idea for them to call this an "FSC"...which is the name of that stupid card that you have take a test for before you can buy a gun (if you don't have a CCW). Seems a little confusing but what do I know. *shrugs*

And yes, in the past the training course was required AFTER approval. Now they want you to take the class first and before you complete your online form. I think that's a positive sign that the renewal process is mostly a formality...unless something changed in the law that I'm not aware of. But the renewal period has also been shortened from 90 days to 45 days. Meaning the sheriff does not want you to renew until the 45 day mark...so they're getting better with respect to their processing time...which is a good thing.

its been a year since my renewal so i’m goin off memory but i’m pretty sure that is a drop down menu and it gives u the option to pick what exactly u are uploading i.e. your training certificate.

I have received my renewed permit at this point. And for this renewal (my fourth renewal...and I hate this nonsense), the sheriff finally synced things up with the my current expiration date. My current permit expires on 12/3/24 and my new permit starts on 12/3/24 and goes to 12/3/26. Thus, I will not be losing any time this go-round...and my renewed permit isn't currently active yet, even though I have it.

Hopefully this is not just some weird fluke and they are doing this across the board so we stop losing time that we paid for. But assuming it is, I still question why they couldn't do this from the start. I want my damn time back!
No, I didn't see the follow up post. I'm glad yours worked out. I hope that is the new trend since it is incredibly unfair to be penalized for getting your renewal application in early just to have your renewal date cut short.

So, the new card's expiration date is based off when they issue your new permit - not the date of the old permit. I've renewed a couple times now and have ended up shaving off a almost a full month of time. I guess the trick is to get the renewal class out of the way and submit the new permit request as close to your expiration date as possible.

Is the sheriff renewing your permit in accordance with your current expiration date?...So if your current permit expired on, say, Oct 31st, did your renewed permit begin on Nov 1st...so you didn't lose any of the time that you paid for...or did they simply renew your permit on whatever day they issued it and mailed it out to you?

I'm on my fourth renewal and all the previous times I ended up losing a week or two because the Sheriff did NOT renew the permit in accordance with the pervious permit's expiration date.

However, for this go round, I've currently been approved for renewal but I have not received the actual permit yet (I assume it's in the mail)...but CCW Pro is showing they renewed me in accordance with my current expiration date this time.

And if this is true, it's great that they're finally getting their act together so that people don't lose time that they paid for. But it's still infuriating that we lost time at all. Seems like there would be a decent case for a class action lawsuit. Because if they can get it right now, why couldn't they get it right before? I want ALL the damn time that I legally paid for! *insert old man yelling at clouds emoji here*

    Thank you in advance.
You should have gotten an email from the Sheriff's dept that your renewal was approved and to log into Pro and make your payment, then click "Finish." Did you get that mail (check your spam and junk folders)? Once you pay and click finish, they mail it to you. You should NOT have to go pick it up.

You may want to call the clerks and ask them what "Ready To Issue" means.

So I got my renewal permit in the mail today and they did, in fact, align my renewal to my current expiration date. My current permit is set to expire on 12/3/24, and my renewed permit will become active on 12/3/24...so there will be no loss of time like in previous years.

It's good that they've made progress on this issue an folks will no longer be losing time that they paid for. But it begs the question, why couldn't they have done this for the past 8 years?
