    Smith 610

Bought a new one this week. Can't wait for the ten days to be up. I am a big 10mm fan and am excited to run it through something else besides my G20. Anyone else have one and care to comment?

Mine is the same model (4" unfluted) but with the standard grips. I;d like to get a good holster for it when I go hunting/hiking. I'd like it to be lined leather. Any suggestions for makers?

I shoot my 5" 610 all the time. I like it a lot. I also shoot 40s in it also.

The .40 option made it a very attractive gun for me as I run .40's out of most of my other pistols. Moon clips from Rimz seem like a good thing.

Mmmmmm another gun w/an unfluted cylinder!

Wish I had an unfluted cyl on my new 625.

I am really liking wheelguns that take autoloader cartridges. Full moon clips are convenient.

Gotta order a whole pile more and keep 250 rds of 45ACP on moonclips.

I'd love to see an unfluted 625 cylinder with the same ejection system my 9mm 547 has- no moon clips! It shoots like you were using .38's.

How does that 547 work w/9mm rimless ammo and no moon clips? Is the extractor star different??

Love to see you post some photos of the cylinder internals...

I am really warming up to autoloader cartridges in wheelguns as well. I was thinking about a 625 or 325 (and I think I saw a model 22 on the smith website) as my next one as they make such good companion pieces to the auto's without having to stock another type of ammo. The 625JM looks interesting as well.

                    610

Cali - I sent a PM with a few questions about your new 610. At first I didn't see it on the DOJ roster, so I was thinking you bought it on consignment or whatever... PPT. Did you have to order it, or was it in stock? Mind letting another 10mm maniac in on where you bought? How many moonies come with it?

Why is the 610 not on S&W's website, or am I missing it?

As for you other 610 guys - what is needed for shooting it? Moon clips, I know... is that the only way? any need for a "demooner"? I know RIMZ style don't need tools...

Using MC's seems like a PITA, are 1/2 moon clips available? Ahhh... I guess I never shoot less than a full cylinder when I load my other revolvers. Let's call it a labor of love!

                        Bill,

Here's some close ups of the extraction system. you can see it has a little tab which engages the 9mm rim groove. It feeds and ejects just like .38's in a normal revolver.
