There?s not much you can do after your appointment to make that part go any faster. Mine took about 11 weeks. What you can do in the meantime is figure out where you?re going to do your qualification, choose which firearms to bring and make sure to stock up on enough ammo for qualification day and for practice. I practiced the 3,5 and 7 yard requirement about weekly or more while I waited for my approval. It?s easy but a bit different when you?re under the pressure of qualification and with someone watching over your shoulder.

      Welcome!

Recommend Discount Gun Mart on Morena for your class. The guys there are pretty good. But there's a decent taco shop right across the street for the lunch NOMS. And there's a Circle K right next door for morning coffee if you forgot to bring it from home...or need more at the break.

Ya gotta have your priorities straight!

      Good luck!

        North county training recomendations

it seems DGM is a pretty common recommendation. That's quite a ways south from me. Seems like there are tons of options.

My local FFL recommended Shore Shot in Oceanside for CCW training. I guess they do simulator training at their location, and live fire portion at Iron Sights in Oceanside. Anyone have any experience with them?

Any other recommendations in north county?

i have heard good things about the class at PWG in poway. u could try there. theres also a guy out in escondido. i’m sure if u search this very thread u should find the posts referencing his school. I don’t have experience with either as I always send people to Kyle at DGM. He can roll your prints for the AZ non-resident permit for no extra charge.

There is a better one a few blocks south of there. It's our normal stop when a group of us go to the range.

McLarin Defense in Oceanside North County. Shore Shot looks bogus.

                    Sorry, I just got home:

                    JV's

It's just a couple blocks south of DGM on Morena. It's in the corner of a little strip mall - blink and you will miss it. If several people are going, I would suggest carpooling since the parking is limited.

Got my appointment on Monday. Looking forward to it. Is the visit pretty straight forward as to where you're supposed to go at the Sheriff office?

Yeah, enter in the front, metal detectors and an officer will greet you. Then from there you go through a door to the check in and waiting room. When they call your name yet through another door to the multiple desks/booths,
They will tell you which one to go to.

Do remember to remove the knife from you pocket before you enter the building. That's as common to me as my car keys and I always forget.

Good point L84... I forgot as well and they were super nice about it, offered to hold it for me until I left, which they did

Great folks down there really trying to process as many folks as quickly as they can.

                              Good luck

I usually don't carry one on the weekdays as I work a government office job. So I'll already be in the habit and routine of getting ready for work.
