I'm on day 81 of the 90 days and actually need the CCW for my work because of the "greater" risk I am placed in. I have never heard from a deputy about any of my application. At my appointment the women who went over my application said I was the most prepared and should have no issues getting approved. Congrats on getting your CCW, I'm going to have to give them a call because it makes absolutely no sense to me how you applied after me and got excellent service and I'm still out here waiting. I've literally had more threats made against my life since applying lol. I will say I do know that SDSO contacted my work to confirm that I was currently employed. Stay safe!

Clerk was awesome, can't remember her name. Deputy sent me some emails on 3/15/21 requiring some more info. Deputy was very professional as well. Finally got approval letter 4/13/21. Thank you SDSO!
The hardest part in my opinion is the amount of time the process takes but I think its well worth it! Hang in there everyone! Don't give up!

They will tell you to expect to hear from them in about 90 days . If the BI has any additional questions or needs documentation they will reach out to you.
Thanks for the quick response and congrats on obtaining your permit.

I did get another email asking me to provide an updated good cause statement focusing on my outdoor activities. They asked for photos and other documentation to support that lifestyle. I also had another appointment date change that is two days later than my scheduled appointment. I should have the first appointment completed for the end of April.

I received an email from a clerk at the sheriffs department last Saturday informing me that I needed to update a second monthly bill to prove residency, which I did, but no other documents for good cause.

My appointment is scheduled for April 16th.

I just got off the phone with my instructor, Kyle Dau at Discount Gun Mart because I'm doing the same. If you are already one of his students its $25/page. If you are not already a student of his, its $50/page. I assume by "page" he means the SDSO training certificate which looks like it will hold 5 weapons on the page.

If you have planning emails with others that might be a good doc. I was able to dig back years setting up shooting trips with friends.

Did everyone's waiting period take close to 90 days after the appointment? Any sooner?

Also, has anyone been denied lately, or was anyone contacted for additional information based on the background check?
