It felt like a punch in the gut when I saw their post on Facebook this morning. Such a big loss for the 2A community in San Diego. They did so many great things: AR pistol and black rifle builds, free ammo transfers, fast and efficient PPT's, training classes, the legal battles in conjunction with SDCGO and FPC, etc. They were also the first shop in SD - and maybe all of California - to sell standard capacity magazines when Freedom Week kicked off! Man, this really sucks.

I really hope they will reconsider and reopen again in the future. Maybe they can open a retail space in a more "gun-friendly" part of town, perhaps East County? I'm glad the gunsmithing and cerakote side of the house will continue, but it just isn't the same without the shop.

To add insult to injury, the landlord would rather have a pot shop in their place...gotta love that the stuff isn't legal (federally).

This was my thought as well. That's a prime piece of land and I bet in this market, the owner just wants to sell the entire property or redevelop it for a client who will pay millions each year.

I'm very sad to hear this news. I wish all of them the best - Ryan, Lee, Morgan and all the staff who were so professional in a tough industry.

I too am saddened, although the last information I had from Ryan was that he and the partner weren't sure how it was going to play out. I guess now I know. Ryan really wanted to keep it going, even though he moved to TN recently. I wish him the best.

I loved that they treated everyone the same...police and non-police. Everyone got the same treatment.

Been using GFT when they were Wiser Owl. Sad to see them go.

Those guys are way too good to just close shop due to a crappy landlord.
I hope they reopen. Best people I have dealt with in a local gun store.

On a side note, GFT closing leaves a huge opening for one of the existing stores to fill a huge void. If they came close to how well GFT treated their customers their business would boom due to all the people looking for a new store.

The only way Gunfighter could have been a better gun store was a liquor license.

They are in it, and have always been in it, for the love of the sport.

I've been looking to get an old Ruger MK refinished. They will be my go-to from now on.

Doom on the landlord for this carp.

GFT is going to release a list of stores they recommend. AO Sword was one they mentioned. I'll have to take a look. But you are absolutely right. I am a one gun store kinda guy, and will travel if they treat me right. Ryan from GFT knew me by name and always made it as easy as possible for me to shop there.

I made an emergency Heineken/pizza delivery.

Tried to spend money but there's almost nothing there.... bummer.
