I shoot at Steel Peak weekly.

Put me on the list. I can bring food, water, rakes, trash bags, people (all shooters) and a couple pickup trucks

Pm me with details of what you may need.

And I will keep looking at this thread to see if we have a date.

    Regards,
    Twystd1

Will the clean up be posted in this thread? Or is there another thread with details? Also I've seen that people recommend 4X4. Is it accessible for a regular car? Have not shot there yet, but sounds like a cool place and id love to help keep it alive.

When the date is set for the clean up something will be posted here.

I have not been there since early November and the first hill was pretty tore up but there were a couple cars in there..... others will have to chime in on current conditions.

It probably as worse as I've ever seen it. Overcrowded and trash everywhere. Fire was started last Saturday and burned a good portion. I think that's the 3rd or 4th fire I've seen this season. Lets keep it safe out there guys.

Where was the fire at, how far in?

Later tonight I will post the date and time in the clean up thread and cross post here, just waiting on one last confirmation.

This one was where the road starts to bend to the right when going around the mountain. Maybe 1000yds in? Anyways, id say it burned about 10 acres at least.

Ill try and make it our there for the clean up. Its a little too far in advance to confirm for me right now.

                    >>I did a drive through day before yesterday just to see if it was open and how the roads were. Made it all the way up past shotgun flats in my civic, and the range is looking pretty clean so far.<<

Would love to come out and help, but I'm driving a (stock) Honda Civic. Getting out there has probably been discussed ad-nauseum, but the only thing I could find to confirm was the post above in one of the other related threads.

Can I make it in a 2wd Civic?

Some clearance is definitely recommended, but not absolute. I've seen a few cars there, but would want to minimize the punishment by taking spots on the firing line near the entrance. Seen a few guys park their cars at the front and then hitch a ride in the back of their buddies' truck.

Caution -- there's a small sandy hill near the entrance that everyone has to gas it a little to make it through.

I drove a little farther in with a Subaru Forrester fine, but it has decent clearance. Farther back I definitely wouldn't take a Civic.

looking towards the main shooting areas at the entrance

towards the middle of the main firing line (see the dummies use rocks for target stands)

Should be plenty of room to shoot today.
