I have sent emails to BLM and the local trash folks for contacts - still waiting but will make phone calls tomorrow (day off) to see if it is possible with only a month to go....

I hope to get a roll off dumpster delivered to the site. It would be a great help if someone local has a bobcat or loader that can ferry the bigger stuff from the long site to the dumpster....

For those interested, please pencil it in and I will let y'all know as I learn stuff. If nothing else, getting a few trucks up there will make a dent.

OK, finally got ahold of a very nice and helpful BLM employee regarding this cleanup. She was excited to help but we found out together, using what maps we had to share (over the phone) that most, if not all, the shooting area is actually private property. BLM cannot help on private property....

Does someone have the ability to check land ownership in the area? I cannot get to the county offices till at least Friday...

                  Dang, that's a shame.

I was really looking forward to going there for the first time in addition to meeting fellow Calgunners. Hopefully there will be some good news to come.

Not sure if you had a chance to go to the county yet... But the below link should at least lead us to a mailing address. I am on my phone right now and as such somewhat limited

                        Dammitt!
That situation just busts my hump.
Will bring the same amount of trash bags next time, & 2 steel rakes.
Maybe another one of the neighbor's kids, too.

Are you using USGS topo maps?

The grids on these are laid-out by ownership/UTM coords.
Different grid colors, etc: Translate to ownership or public authority.

I have no idea if it happened or not but someone definitely cleaned it up since my last visit a couple months ago.. I was up there last weekend with family and the difference was amazing.

i've been up to that area a few times and always take trash home with us... we use the harbor freight hand magnet stick with the release handle... works really good at picking up shotgun hulls and nails/screws... my kids enjoy that part almost as much as shooting... lol

No kidding...I find that when I go out with the kids...the trick is that while I'm setting up the tables and chairs and guns etc...I make them all pick up for about 30 or 45 minutes. They're so amped to be there and to go shooting that it flys by for them. Then when we're done...it's a snap to pick up our stuff and the place is CLEAN.
