All handgun caliber are extremely underpowered. The difference between 9mm, .40, and .45 is beyond insignificant. Choose what you shoot well. (Besides, .40 wouldn't even exist if the FBI weren't so recoil sensitive).

I have not shot an LC9, but I have an LCP. It's too small and light and .380 +P+ in it is just this side of punishing. I can only imagine what 9mm would be like in a similarly sized gun.

Glocks are awesome, but the subcompacts leave something to be desired for many reasons. I'd either go with a compact like the G19, or a metal framed Kahr unless you really need a polymer frame. The metal-framed Kahrs are still light while not being too light.
Math, Science, Ballistics, etc don't factor in. Please do some research. Understand why I said in my reply that a 155gr 40 will recoil just like a +P 9mm, and why I stated enough velocity at a distance. If you cannot understand knockdown factor vs velocity vs over-penetration THIS IS WHY I stated take a class.

BTW: I hope your not loading +P in your LCP.... The Ruger LCP was not designed for use with +P ammunition. Given the LCP’s lightweight and compact design, the use of +P ammunition in this particular model may result damage to the firearm or personal injury per Ruger.

      LC9 vs Glock 26

I would really appreciate some feedback on the two as I am looking to purchase within the next few days.

      Thanks a lot!
I own both.. I was going to do a range report complete with photos comparing the two. I would strongly recommend shooting both guns before your purchase. (If you are in the SF Bay Area.. Jackson Arms in South San Francisco has both models for rent...)

The dimensions between them are fairly close on paper but when you actually carry each one I would say it is evident that the LC9 beats the Glock as a concealable weapon. That said I prefer shooting the Glock but I have finally gotten used to the LC9s trigger so the differences to me now are not so great. (The LC9 trigger has a longer and heavier pull and reset than the Glock...the LC9 feels like a snubby double action revolver to me) The LC9 out the door is about $200 cheaper but as others have said the Glock 26 has a long history of reliable service. (The LC9 is new but Rugers tend to be pretty reliable also and the company is generally good with warranties..) Both have high resale value (in case you change your mind..) since they are both very popular models.

I have discovered there is some ammo that tends to have failure to fire errors with the LC9. Read the forums about which ammo works best with each gun and run a 100 rounds or so of your defensive ammo through whichever weapon you buy to determine the ammo's performance with you gun.

I'll post comparison photos of my Glock and LC9 by tomorrow.

To back up your statement about the .380 caliber LCP, per Ruger's website:

"Can I use +P ammunition in my Ruger LCP?
No. The Ruger LCP was not designed for use with +P ammunition. Given the LCP's light weight and compact design, the use of +P ammunition in this particular model may result in damage to the firearm or personal injury."

FWIW (as the original poster probably knows.. but clarifying for the thread...) the 9mm Ruger LC9 does support +p ammo but not +p+ ammo.

First off, you're the one that used the term "big enough hole," and neglected to talk about any other factors, implying the .05 in difference was so huge; I was merely parroting you.

Secondly, factor in all the other variables and there are still negligible differences between 9mm, .40, and .45.

Making the claim that .40 is some wonder caliber compared to the 9mm along with using the term "knockdown power" and then telling me to do research? Please, someone tell me I'm on Candid Camera or Punk'd.

Technaclip will offer shortly a clip for the LC9 which makes its concealability significantly superior to G26. Can be a significant difference for those who are small body frame and wish to have it on your body and well hidden, as well as comfortable....FWIW.

Respectfully disagree... the LC9 took me some getting used to but I am about as accurate now with the LC9 as I am with my Glock 26. (Although I still like shooting the latter more...) That said it did take about 3 trips to the gun range for me to shoot good groups with the LC9. The trigger was a pain at first.

I have a glock27. It's a bear to shoot and too big for me to conceal in anything but the dead of winter, especially with a finger extension on it.

G26 for sure. I own one for CCW and love it. Plus mods are cheap and easy, its reliable, etc, etc. "The bitterness of poor quality remains long thereafter the happiness of low price"!!

I just bought a Ruger LC9 yesterday and was very impressed with it and many of the reviews on the internet and on youtube.
They are on sale for $309.99 plus tax & Dros at a local FFL dealer thru 12/10/11.

Here is a nice Review by Hickock45 on youtube.
One of Hickock45's video impression on the Ruger LC9.
                        Best wishes on your decision.

I own(ed) both guns for CCW. The LC9 was easier to conceal, HOWEVER, the LC9 has a LONG and HEAVY trigger pull. IT never really bothered me until I got to a private range and got a chance to shoot is some high stress quick shooting situations. In quick rapid fire situations, because of the heavy trigger I ended up shooting mostly at the ground... Now, having said that, maybe a ton of practice under those conditions and plenty of technique refinement would fix that.... but, it made me really think. I resisted drinking the "Glock Kool Aid" for a long time. I am extremely happy with my G26 and sold my LC9. The LC9 worked flawless and does the Glock. There is ALWAYS going to be some kind of compromise on a handgun. Shooting into the dirt in high stress situations was one that I couldn't live with. As, always , it's a personal choice. I put a Brook'sTactical "Agrip" on the grip of my G26 made it much easier to get a hold of the "blocky" Glock. I also added a Pearce plus Zero mag extension for the pinky finger and an extended slide release lever. All 3 mods for under $50. I love the Glock.... good luck with your decision.
P.S. you can get any type of holster or accessories for the Glock....the LC9, not so much

Easy, the G26. Have tried both. The Glock 26 trigger is much better and easier to shoot accurately.
