    Help! G26 vs. LC9 Can't decide!

I can't decide if I want the G26 or an LC9 ! I want something that is small enough to conceal yet tough and reliable. I know its personal choice, but maybe some feedback would help me out. The G26 has a history of reliability, it has a decent magazine capacity and it's heavier. However, the LC9 seems like it would be easier to conceal and is much lighter to carry.

I would really appreciate some feedback on the two as I am looking to purchase within the next few days.

    Thanks a lot!

My girlfriend just bought an LC9 its reallllly slim. Kind of a beast to shoot, but really fun! Plus it was $359...

It really is going to be personal preference. What we say might be totally different then what you think.

I've played with both at gun stores, G26 I like the feel of and it actually fits my hand, which is something to consider because it really does have a larger grip with that big hump down at the lower end of the handle, so make sure you can comfortably grip it and reach the trigger correctly.

The LC9 is very small, my hands really overfit the weapon and that is saying something as I have short stubby hands/fingers.

Also the big thing about conceal carry is only good if you can actually hit what you are shooting at. If there is any way you can rent both guns and try before buying that would be optimal. If not available for rental you might want to post your location/shooting range to see if another Calgunner is in the area that has one or both for you to try.

The next thing to consider is how you plan on carrying? I know you mentioned jogging in your other post. I would think you would be going with a fanny pack or some other more secure way to carry while jogging.

In the end both are very different, one has an external safety the other has the safe trigger design (which I prefer since there is no extra fumbling in a high stress situation).

Good luck on your decision and let us know what you wind up with!

Glock 26 has a very nice grip. The glocks are very forgiving with dry lube so it will not stain your cloths. With the glocks Tenifer coating you hardly have to lube the gun since its not being used. LC9 needs oiling obviously. The LC9 is a Dual Action where the Glock has a striker. Parts are highly available for glocks and have a long, very long track record with reliability. Lint, dirt, etc will not hurt a glocks functionality. Although the glock is heavier, I wouldn't sacrifice my personal protection vs. weight.

        You'd have to ask yourself:
Which is more suitable for a follow up shot should you need one between the two?
With the first shot how does it feel in your hand between the two?
How well do you handle the first shot between the two?
Where did the first shot land between the two?

Personally, you can lay the threat to rest with a Glock 27 with a knock down factor and enough velocity at a distance. For a 9mm your shot placement will be critical. The 27 (40 caliber) should leave a hole big enough for the threat to be destroyed. Some say it's snappy but they are wimps. Shoot 155gr 40 caliber bullets it will recoil just like a +P 9mm. Build up some muscle memory shooting a Glock 27 for 3 weeks keep practicing you will hardly notice it.

Go to your local range that has rentals and see if you can rent the two to compare. If it's your first gun, get a friend that already has a firearm to take you there to test them. I say bring a friend as many rentals require you to own and bring your own firearm. So if you you don't have one, bring a friend who does.

I just said this in another thread. Look at the SR9C for other reasons. I personally couldn't hit crap with my LC9 I just bought and sold in 2 weeks. Couldn't handle the trigger and loved the rest of it. I can shoot glock, XD, SR9, and anything 1911, but that LC9 just flat sucked. Also look at the Kahr PM9 as a different solution for this.

Thank you for your posts here! Thank you to glock357... I agree with you. Some say that because I am a "lady" I should go with the 9mm instead of the 40.

As a Glock 26 owner, go with the Glock. Better trigger and more reliable.

Glock 26! I gave up a kahr p380 for the glock. Now the p380 is a tiny gun and transitioning to a glock 26 Made the glock feel like a brick. Carried it around the house for a few weeks and after a tedious holster selection, the glock is pretty easy to carry. And it shoots like a full size! I just actually shot my ccw qualifications with it today. Hit 25/25. No regrets on the glock 26 here....

NP. Nothing is more sexy than a woman that can handle a big caliber (as you can see in my avatar) Some day I will marry her

Have fun, be safe and take a first time gun owners safety course. Then practice, practice, practice.

Enjoy your purchase I'm sure whatever it will be "a glock of course" will reliably do the job hoping that it will never be necessary.

The G26 is as thick as the full sized G17. Its a good quality gun, but the LC9 will generally be easier to conceal.

G26 is a good option, so is a 642 snubbie. No issues if lint/wrappers/dirt retards the slide, she can just pull the trigger again. Grips are iffy though, less to hold onto with the 642. G26 isnt a bad choice at all.

If given the chance, rent out and shoot both guns. The accuracy of the glock is far superior to the lc9. If its a carry gun that you are looking for, I'm pretty sure if your life depended on it that you would want to actually hit ur target. That's what gave me more edge on carrying the g26.

Glock may be too FAT to carry...LC9 trigger may be S@#$ if it's anythin like my LCP. Best compormise is the Kahr CW9 or CW45 both have better triggers than the ruger an are much thinner and easier to carry than the glock...ps I love my odG27 but it is a lil fatty!

That's not always true on CGN especially when speaking of Lady Calgunners

                              First off:

Somebody said something about ".40 leaving a big enough hole to stop threat". . . implying it's so much better than 9mm. . . ahem. Just disregard that outright.

All handgun caliber are extremely underpowered. The difference between 9mm, .40, and .45 is beyond insignificant. Choose what you shoot well. (Besides, .40 wouldn't even exist if the FBI weren't so recoil sensitive).

I have not shot an LC9, but I have an LCP. It's too small and light and .380 +P+ in it is just this side of punishing. I can only imagine what 9mm would be like in a similarly sized gun.

Glocks are awesome, but the subcompacts leave something to be desired for many reasons. I'd either go with a compact like the G19, or a metal framed Kahr unless you really need a polymer frame. The metal-framed Kahrs are still light while not being too light.
