You might want to get ahold of Emily at Ade's guns in Orange. I knew two other female FFL's Flag Guns and KPG guns but both went under.

Center Mass in Solano County (my area) is owned by a husband and wife. The wife is at the shop on a regular basis and may offer you some feedback. I've never discussed the FFL portion of their business with her and have only covered our mutual attraction to 1911s.

I believe Oaktree Gun Club's FFL is under California Gun Girls.

The resistance to sharing info you are getting is not gender based, I'm a man opening an FFL and it's been the same(8/10) for me too. Some People are afraid of competition and do their best to discourage new FFL's. Disregard those folks as best you can and stay focused.
