    Were you able to get it in writing? Nobody has that I'm aware of and hence the slight uncertainty.

    DOJ says a lot of things that aren't true.

          I was just asking if anybody received and answer in writing not just over the phone.

              Let's use reason. This is not about SSE. This is about delivering and unsafe handgun. Does the law state "delver" or "sale?" If gun X falls off the list tomorrow, I can definitely DROS it today, and when they pick it up (e.g. delivery) the gun is off the list and therefore unsafe. But that's not only an accepted practice, but I specifically asked the DOJ and they told me it has to be on the list when we start the DROS, not when they pick it up. By the same token, we should be able to sell a "safe" guns (SSE) up until midnight on 12/31 and be fine.

                See post #5. It is about SSE. Also, did you get what the DOJ told you in writing? That is the big "if" here. I've been told over the phone the same, but when asked for it in writing was told I needed to consult an attorney.

                Logic doesn't seem to come into play here. If they are willing to tell you something on the phone, why are they so unwilling to write it down even in an email?

                  Of course they won't put anything in writing. An agent was here and she told me that the state of the gun counts when you DROS it "in," as opposed to DROSing out (delivery). For example I DROS'd an S&W M&P 9 on Aug 16, the last day on the list. I delivered it 10 days later. At that point it wasn't on the list, and therefore unsafe. Haven't any other FFLs delivered guns after they've fallen off the list?

                    BTW- anyone local to the SF bay area that can't use their sub-caliber tubes anymore? I would consider buying them.

                      Your example is different. If the items falls off the list it isn't instantly unsafe.. it's not renewed..

                      This is more like the issue with the SR22s in July 2013 where DOJ said any in flight could not be delivered because they were unsafe. See this post/thread for reference: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...5&postcount=26

                      As of 1/1/2015, the way these were DROSd is deemed "unsafe" by CA DOJ, hence the apprehension by some.

                        I was doing some review of AB1964 (enacted July 18, 2014) and found this, "xisting law makes it a crime, punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year, to manufacture, import into the state for sale, keep for sale, offer or expose for sale, give, or lend an unsafe handgun."

                        By this law it makes it illegal to lend any off list gun to anyone, or am I reading it wrong?;

                        Next, I found this,

                        This was quoted above already, sorry for the redundancy. There is no listed start date for this law in the page I read. http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/13-14/..._chaptered.htm.

                        Obviously, I am very concerned so I get this right. I offer my observations humbly in hopes of further clarification.
