    question about private party transfer.

was looking to buy a gun form someone that offered to ship it to a ffl near me. how does this work? the owner does not have to be present at the time of transfer? i have been apart of ppt before, but just not sure about the shipping. how does it work. and information would be great.

the owner is in cali, same as me and the gun is it not currently on roster.
blued sig p232guy wants a good price for it.

The dealer will receive the gun and transfer to you, the seller will fax the forms before shipping and no need for his presence, but you need to pay for all this...Check the fees you have to pay, some dealers charge a bundle for doing the transfer, and then i think you still have to pay dros, they might even charge tax

Same thing with the dealer sending to a dealer, you have to pay transfer fees, I've never done it because of the cost, prefer to do ppt or c&r
Once the gun is received by your FFL you do dros, pay all the fees and wait 10 days ( of course before all that you have to pay the seller) if you call your FFL they will give you all the info

In a ppt both buyer and seller have to be present

ok, so the seller would have to have his own ffl in order to not be present. although i want to avoid this, the price is right so im looking into it. also question on gun broker, in order to get an off roster gun in this case a ppk.. different from the first gun i was talking about (sig p232) i have to buy the ppk from a non ffl? and have it shipped to a ffl of my choice to do the transfer? i really want a ppk and was going to settle for the sig since its on roster and not a paid in the ***, but its price vs the ppk is insane and much rather go threw the hassle of getting a ppk shipped to me and would still save money.

Off roster both parties have to be present as that is a private party transfer which will be ca residen to ca resident but both have to meet at an ffl for the transfer i believe having someone ship you and off roster to your ffl it would have to be done as an sse

so the seller with the sig p232 in ca, can not sell me the gun buy shipping it, unless he himself has a ffl. and thats if the gun is no roster, which its not becuase its the blued, only the stainless if still on roster. what a cluster f.

Which means that an off roster gun cannot be shipped unless its a C&R. I mean, it can be shipped, you just can't purchase it.
