DOJ Large Cap Mag Permit

Assuming that there is no problem with you application, you will likely receive your High Capacity Magazine Permit in about a month after your mailed your application.
Of course, I am assuming that you have all of your FFL dealer paperwork already approved, and that your are actually legally engaged in the business of Firearms sales.

Yes, I am up and operational as an FFL. I sent in my application for the large capacity magazine permit because I had some law enforcement officials ask me for quotes on some Glocks that I wouldn't be able to make good on without the permit.

You are all wrong. I have one. It says, "Large Capacity Magazine Permit".

I get mine when I re-up my CFD and they always come in together.

Did you include a written or typed letter for good cause? If not, they might be rejecting it and sending it back to you to insert the letter and then send it in again.

I did include the letter. I basically just told them that I have inquiries pending from LEOs that I can't act on without the permit, and also that I would like to import them for disassembly into parts for repair. Hopefully those are good enough to get me the permit. It would be nice to have the extra business.

FAIL! You should have never mentioned repair kits. That there might be the reason why it is taking so long. Hopefully you get it.

Lesson to all, only tell them what they want to hear. LEO sales only. They might be crafting up a reason why they think repair parts kits are illegal and why they are not issuing you a permit.

The field agent who conducted my initial inspection seemed to agree with me that it would be legal to sell parts kits as long as they weren't assembled into a complete magazine, and as long as they were labelled as parts kits.

They did return my application and letter today. The reason they gave is that I haven't submitted my renewal for my CFD listing. They asked me to resubmit the application along with my CFD renewal and $115 check. Maybe I should change the letter as well when I resubmit.

You mean standard capacity magazines that exceed the round limit imposed by law?

This is one of the most heavily regulated businesses around. No matter how mad we are with the anti's, whereas standard, normal and hi-cap are not defined, the PC clearly defines large capacity magazines.

Now that sucks you have to wait because if you are like me, you won't get your local business license until nearly the end of the year and you won't get your CFD and large cap mag permit until probably January 15th or later.

Yes, that is what I mean, but as CSACANNONEER also pointed out, I am using the letter of the law. I guess we can all probably agree that we're all hoping for the day that we get our constitutionally protected rights back. All of them.
