Yes, the DROS fee should be reduced and in fact, it might be reduced, but the law still says that the FFL only get $10. Part of the DROS fee is for a Safety Enforcement fee of $5 and Safety Training of $1, so the actual DROS fee itself is $19.

The DROS submission is outsourced, so that company gets some money for each DROS, but I am not sure of what that amount is.

But with all that said, you are not going to magically get the DROS fee reduced nor the FFL fee increased for a PPT.

I hear a lot of guys saying that its customer service and should be free because of "potential" customers and yadda yadda yadda.
Seriously, an educated guess would be 95-99% of customers coming in for ppts I had never seen before, ID were not in the system and have never seen them after pick up and I did them quick and with a smile. Thats such a cop out excuse. People use PPT's all the time to avoid buying from an FFL and getting a good deal. Its your freedom to buy where you want and to buy privately but dont go off saying that an FFL should be doing it for free because you are entitled to it

        Wonderful.

So now not only is our DMV information processed by some boiler room in Mexico when we get a traffic ticket... they are also getting our firearms information?

Who said it was in Mexico? Outsourcing does not mean it is outside the USA.

Traffic ticket processing is outsourced to Mexico, and has resulted in ID theft cases.

Yes, but again, who said it was done outside the country?

Outsourcing means that the CA DOJ is not doing it themselves and a company is doing it. It does not mean that it is being done by a company which is not in the USA. Even if it is not outsourced, the data can be abused.
