WTF is the question about gun shop employees?
IMHO, every American citizen should be LOC 24/7.

As a Gun Shop owner, do I need permission from the private property owner to carry from my store to my truck?

I remember a long time ago, my parents were going out and I was scared to be home alone. I asked my dad if I could use a holster and walk around the house with my 1911 . He told me no, because if anyone (like a neighbor) saw me thru a window, they could call the police and I might get in trouble, even in our own property . He said probably not, but we still didn't want trouble. I don't remember his exact reason of law, but I think maybe brandishing a weapon?

So yes, I think gunstore employees should carry their guns, because nobody would be upset because they know what they are expecting, but bet there are anti-gunners at stores nearby who probably still don't like the gun store employees carrying. It's sad, because we are ALL safer because of it!

It never bothered me to see store employees carrying. It's a gun store -- isn't that to be expected?

I remember reading an article years ago about some dumb crook who actually tried to hold up a gun store. It was pretty hysterical especially since there were four to five employees working at the time, all armed (and I'm sure it didn't include the "toys" scattered around the place in various areas.) It was one of those Christimas tree lighting events.

There was a recent post about a gun shop in San Jose that was being robbed of a gun and ammo. Turned out bad for the bad guy. The incident happened in the early 90's but it was refreshing to read about it and the guts people find when it is truly needed. Anyone have a link? The OP really should read it.

I think it's a good idea, makes sense for gun shop employees to carry loaded guns, if they get robbed you know the guns that get stolen are going to be sold to people who would use them against law-abiding people, in addition gun shop employees are more likely to be shot during the course of a robbery (armed or not) than many other store robberies.

We have our employees qual and carry. Some carry openly, others carry concealed (get the BGs to focus on the visible), and there may or not be hardware of a larger nature discreetly placed throughout.

A gun store that doesnt allow their employees to carry is nuts.

Outside of the store, same restrictions as anyone else. Unless you have a CCW, unloaded and either carried openly or in a locked container.
If your store is within 1000ft (as a crow flies) of the perimeter of any public or private k-12 school, the first option is not available.

The first gun shop I went to was Bullseye in San Rafael. Well I noticed that most were carrying discretely, no bother. Then at the range, I witnessed one of the more senior staff pull out his custom 1911 to show another man on the range, from somewhere unseen... Let me just say, something about a 1911 with muzzle compensator, etc. I damn near couldn't take my eyes off that gun, and sure as hell wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of it. It was a humbling experience although I had a 12 gauge and some pistols there at the range, that gun is still pictured in my mind, I think it was green or tan colored, anyway It might do the job without even firing.

I sure didn't mind, except now I don't want a 1911 until I can get one like his. What is it, a nighthawk? I don't really know the models all that well, but I'm sure others have seen it. So I guess his awesome gun has kept me from buying a lesser 1911, lol.
