Looking at getting an FFL, but not for resale

I am setting up a Manufacture's rep group business and I'm working with a few small firearms manufactures to be their rep. I'm thinking it would be good to have an 01 FFL to get samples sent to me. The samples will be sent back or maybe sold to a customer with a retail business.

With that in mind, how much of the CA BS paperwork would I have to file? I plan on working out of the house and no one will ever come to my house to look at the firearms. Since I don't plan on selling the firearms (at retail) I receive would the home zoning be an issue? I'm not zoned for retail.

01 is "Dealer" and used to come with a storefront requirement. Maybe an 06 would be a better fit.

An 06 is an ammo manufacturer. Not anything that I'm going to be doing.

I hadn't thought about an 07, but I think that's a good idea.

Since I won't be transferring firearms to none FFL's what of the CA specific things can I skip?

Ron, thank you very much. This was the information I was looking for. I currently have my C&R and COE. I just got off the phone with the city and it looks like it won't be a problem as I won't be having anyone come to the house to look at or buy the firearms that I get as samples/evaluations.

I did mention that I might be selling those samples to my customers who would be other FFL holders and that the manufactures would be doing the billing. They told me that I should also get a sellers permit just in case they need one. Since they are free I don't see a reason not too.

Time to start looking for another safe.

Yeah - resale license for any income because you may have to remit sales taxes. Also many manufacturers and distributors require it before they will ship anything to you.

If you're a manufacturer rep it would be a good idea and make your life easier. What you're saying is entirely reasonable and within the realm of licensure.

i'm sorta in the same boat of conversation.
i'd like to get an 01. I wanted to do it out of my house with internet sales, so no "store-front" so "Zoned Residential Single Family Dwelling". And then I rent so i have to check the box "rented/leased" for #15. then a YES for #16 (internet sales....maybe gunshows).....
then this is were my concern is. #17...
I don't know how they judge each criteria. What happens, or what difference does it make if you check YES for "intend to use your license ONLY TO acquire firearms to enhance your personal collection"? is it still an FFL01 or does it have a certian "designation" about only buying and not selling?

I really want to make ammo. but to get wholesale catalogs/contacts/distributors lists & names, you have to have at least an 01. an 06 is more money to get setup than an 01. i think for an 01 you need
a business license (is that the same as reseller's license?)
a business phone number
a fax number
a regulation safe

now, i'm in Las Vegas so i might be less restricted (doubt it) but i'm guessing the steps are the same. i don't want to send in an application because im missing something.

Business licenses come from the city or county and allow you to run a business. A resale license comes from the state and is what you need to collect and pay sales tax.

The former has an annual fee usually based on gross revenue. The latter should be free.
