Ryenex makes up their ow rules. Don't like their policies do not do business with them. If an individual ships firearm and there is a problem with dros then they cannot ship back to seller must go thru ffl then.

So you had problems in the past and sent him the same type of item to be transferred and did not expect problems this time? I must be missing something here.

We tried not to have weird rules/policies and we always told our customers before they put them into a bad situation.

But you were right, we had problems with shipments coming from individuals and thats why there is this policy now.

Who exactly is your legal team? DOJ actually states in their regulations that a complete lower is not an AW unless it’s actually fitted with a semi auto, center fire upper and out of compliance with its configuration.

Without an upper, how do you know if it’s not being built with a juggernaut device or a .22 upper? As a retailer, you should know that whatever happened to that receiver after delivered is not on you since your A&D says it’s a receiver. You may want to look into getting a better legal team.

What types of problems have you had? We accept from private individuals, but haven't had any big issue yet, luckily. I'd like to know what to look out for based on the issues you've seen.

Curious. It's frustrating when FFL's have wonky policies that don't make sense, and that cost customers time and money. I've had similar strange things happen many times over the years.

Hopefyully ryenex can get their stuff sorted out and become a go-to FFL. My favorites in my area, unfortunately, have moved out of the area and I no longer have a go-to place to blow all my money.

I can tell you that while we DO accept shipments from private individuals, we also have had problems -- no ID, no invoice, no idea who the darn thing is for... It takes time and therefore money to figure this stuff out.

no ID not a problem - log where it came from is what ATF said if you're unable to get ID info
no invoice - I make that the end customer's problem
no idea who it's for - I just have it sit and start collecting storage fees. I get paid for my time eventually...

ETA: in my opinion you make it the problem of the customer coming to pick up and charge fees/penalties as appropriate.. that way any extra labor you have to put in is paid for.. if we don't get CFLC Firearm Shipment Approval numbers it's the customer's problem as well. We make them chase it down with the sending FFL if they don't respond to our first request for it.

We had individuals sent us AW, we had return shipment issues where no one receives the package and it gets sent back again. We have packages from individuals without any type of invoices and contacting them is also part of the issue. And during covid there are some scam/frauds that was the last straw.

I always tell prospective customers if their seller sends us an AW that it is getting turned over to Fremont PD. We've only had to do it twice.

I've never had a customer get mad at us. We tell them up front it's on them.

Do you guys turning those AW to PD right the way? because in possession of AW is something we want to avoid by all means.
