Well my application must have fallen on the desk of the guy that went on an early furlough.
Are the DOJ folks considered 'essential employees' when it comes to processing COE's?

Remember to change your password, too, as they do expire at that site.

Renewal is easy. Just make sure to upload your Real ID, or regular ID and passport, birth cert, etc.

Old school regular ID will work. I have the same. Uploaded, approved in about 2 weeks.

Just want to circle back on this one. I was not able to renew until 59 days before my expiration. Once I hit the 59 day mark the renewal button appeared at the bottom of the page.

Just processed my renewal, and paid via the cart. Everything went smooth we will see how long it takes to get it back from the DOJ.

                    Thanks for the help everyone.

Mine was due to expire 3/28/20. Renewed 3/19/20. Logged into DES to day do a transfer and got a restriction code CFDI. Called and OGM said to email.
                      Their response.........

                      Hello,
Please log in to CFARS to check the status of your COE renewal. If you COE is renewed you can email a copy of your new COE to Centralized List at CL-AVL@doj.ca.gov.
Please note that COE's current processing time is 4-8 weeks for renewals. They will provide status updates for renewals submitted 30 or more days ago.
If you have further questions please email us again.
                      Thank you,

                      My response.....

So you’re saying that my renewal on 3/19/20, for my COE that didn’t expire until 3/28/20, won’t be processed for 4-8 weeks and I’m out of business because of that?

                      Their response..........

                      Hello,
As stated previously, COE's current processing time is 4-8 weeks for renewals. They will provide status updates for renewals submitted 30 or more days ago.
If you have further questions please email us again.
                      Thank you,
                      Customer Support Center

                      My response................

I’m sure it’s not your fault but that is just unbelievable.

I had the same issue. It took 15 days to renew. I was only out of the game for a week. It is our faults btw. They give you 60 days before expiration for a reason. DOJ claims 4-8 weeks to process. We tried to get it done in 2. Lesson learned for me.

Wasn't aware they allow renewal 60 days out, have never seen that posted anywhere on my renewal notice, and have always renewed about 2 weeks ahead. Sorry but I disagree it being our fault. They didn't seem to have a problem taking the payment, and if Covid-19 is their excuse, that's B.S. All of this is done on computer and if they are being paid to sit at home they should be able to approve "boilerplate" renewals online. All of us in the private sector seem to be able to conduct business efficiently that way.

A Sr member warned and posted few month back about renewing COE early to avoid DOJ's issues.

I really do appreciate everything Cal Gunners do for the industry, but I shouldn't have to rely on posts to be informed of DOJ regs. And there is no excuse for them taking 4-8 weeks to do anything, especially when it deprives livelihood. Just venting
