    LEO and Ammo Background Checks

I have been reading around a little but have not found anything yet, altough I may have missed it. Are their any exemptions to the ammo background check like LEO or just a 03 license + COE?

The CRPA webinar said LEO's with a letter from the head of the agency are good but otherwise they still need a check as do CCW holders.

03 + COE I beleive is also exempt...I need to watch again when I can focus and waiting to see if DOJ puts out any info.

There seems to be some disagreement as to whether there is still an exemption for FFL03 + COE holders. The regs filed with OAL seem to remove the exemption, but that goes beyond what the law says...

One thing that did seem to be clear is that if you buy ammunition from a California Licensed Ammunition Vendor, you need to obtain a background check at POS.

FFL03 + COE means can buy from out of state and not have to deliver to CA FFL01.

Purchase from CA FFL 'ammunition vendor' requires the background check for COE-holders (FFL03 not used here).

LAX Ammo disagrees with that, according to DOJ.

I suspect they mean for LAX Ammo, a CA ammo vendor - "234 Hindry Ave, Inglewood, CA 90301"

The link leads to their affiliate in Huntington Beach, but same outfit.

It came from this thread here on FFL forum.

                My question is:

Is LAX Ammo spreading FUD to increase their own sales?

LEO with creds and department letter is GTG. FFL has to retain copy of creds and letter of course.

In regards to the FFL3+COE, I was under the same impression as Librarian.

I checked, if you have a C&R FFL and COE, it can be delivered directly to you. If you go in, then you need to have COE background check for ammo purchases.
