It would not be a photocopy since it is an original printout, like a twin.

I could see advocating for printing 2 copies and giving them both to the customer to keep, but I don't see how when you read PC 31660 AND the Adopted Regs how when a customer comes back to you and says they lost their FSC that its not a replacement, and thus a $5 charge must be remitted to the DOJ.

Not that I agree with it but I do remember asking something like this before saying cant we just keep copies and was told NO.

Joe was off yesterday and just came back to work and we are discussing this thread. He is the one who specifically asked Renee if we could retain copies to give out as replacements later at no charge and she told him NO.

So if we are to rely on what our DOJ inspectors want in regards to stuff like writing gun lock info on the DROS, even though its not specifically listed in the PC or the Regs how can we ignore what they are telling is in regards to record retention of FSC copies?

Joe submitted the issue in the FSC issue log with all the customers info. The reply given was just to call the help line. He called the help line, they said customer must retest if record is not showing in the system. That's the extent of the help they would give. Customer is basically being forced to pay an extra $10 because the DOJ can't keep records in a database.

Some additional info, while searching the invoices for that entire month in the Firearms Certification System, there is no record of this Transaction. All the customers prior to, and after are listed.

Did you call to see if the FSC number is valid? If so, they should be able to provide info on who issued it to confirm it.

Customer Service lady said she can only look it up by invoice #, but there is no invoice for this customer. I do have the email receipt however from when they took my $15.

Seems like a good scam: DOJ cant find your FSC info, pay another $25.00 or how about this one what if they start losing DROS records? Bought a BB assault weapon and want to register it? Sorry we lost your DROS info.

just was in the process of crossreferencing to find out if its on there. It looks like the Trans. Ref. # on the receipt is the invoice #. However, where i search for that invoice #, there are no results.

This is Joe: I spoke to a different operator this time around. I told her the previous conversation but that I now had the invoice # they were requesting. She stated she didn't know why the analyst I spoke to was asking for the Invoice # as they usually don't need that. I was put on hold so she could try and put me on the phone with the previous analyst. The previous analyst was unavailable, so this operator (Operator 216) stated the only thing we could do was have the customer retest and then reissue a new cert. I brought up the concern of the customer paying additional fees when he should only be paying $5 for a replacement. She said that its their viewpoint that the certs aren't guaranteed to be available. I was told I could email a request for reimbursement, but they were handled on a case by case basis. Based on previous DOJ experiences, even when they are in the wrong, and say we are due for a refund, we never receive it.

So even though you have the email receipt, they are saying there is nothing that they can do? Their failure costs others money. Honestly, it sounds like attorney time.
